Historia
David Novak learned long ago that you can't lead a great organization of any size without getting your people aligned, enthusiastic, and focused relentlessly on the mission. But how do you do that? There are countless leadership books, but how many will actually help a Taco Bell shift manager, a Fortune 500 CEO, a new entrepreneur, or anyone in between? Over his 15 years at Yum! Brands, Novak has developed a trademarked program he calls Taking People with You.

Great book on basic concepts of business/company stock valuation, and investing
Revisado: 08-09-24
This book offers a comprehensive view of proper stock, company, and business valuation, pricing, and investing approaches. Despite the basic concepts, I recommend the paper version for those without an accounting or finance background to better understand the mechanics described by the author.

Historia
Investing can be a roller-coaster of highs and lows, and the investors detailed here reveal just how low it can go; stories from Warren Buffet, Bill Ackman, Chris Sacca, Jack Bogle, Mark Twain, John Maynard Keynes, and many more illustrate the simple but overlooked concept that investing is really hard, whether you're managing a few thousand dollars or a few billion. Failures and losses are part of the game. Much more than just anecdotal diversion, these stories set the basis for the book's critical focus: learning from mistakes.

Good read for investors, especially retail who may be starting investing their own money
Revisado: 07-23-24
I discovered Michael Batnick through the podcast *The Compound & Friends*, which I enjoy. I came across his book on Audible and decided to listen to the first chapter. I ended up finishing the entire book in three days. While the concepts and facts are familiar, the organization and key takeaways are well-presented and engaging, even for those who have read extensively on the subject.

Historia
No company embodied American ingenuity, innovation, and industrial power more spectacularly and more consistently than the General Electric Company. GE once developed and manufactured many of the inventions we take for granted today, nearly everything from the lightbulb to the jet engine. GE also built a cult of financial and leadership success envied across the globe and became the world’s most valuable and most admired company. But even at the height of its prestige and influence, cracks were forming in its formidable foundation.

Self-made billionaire Sam Zell consistently sees what others don't. And he can find opportunity virtually anywhere - from an arcane piece of legislation to a desert meeting in Abu Dhabi.

Historia
In 1997, Jan Ullrich announced himself to the world by obliterating his rivals in the first mountain stage of the Tour de France. So awesome was his display that it sent shockwaves throughout the world of cycling and invited headlines such as L’Équipe’s ‘The New Giant’. He went on to become Germany’s first ever Tour winner, storming to victory in that edition by almost 10 minutes, a result that was greeted as an era-defining changing of the guard. Everyone agreed: Jan Ullrich was the future of cycling.

Great account and valuable insights of a (sport) hero and his era
Revisado: 07-27-23
This book offers a clear and documented perspective the Ullrich - Armstrong rivalry at the TDF. The author depicts the real personalities and motives of the actors, first and foremost Jan’s. As a young competitive cyclist and Triathlete amateur during the 90s I remember the excitement around pro cycling with Pantani, Ullrich and Armstrong, their raise to stardom and hard fall. The not so secret dirty cheating which had infected pro sports as well as the amateur‘s.

Historia
You may be surprised to learn that microchips are the new oil—the scarce resource on which the modern world depends. Today, military, economic, and geopolitical power are built on a foundation of computer chips. Virtually everything—from missiles to microwaves—runs on chips, including cars, smartphones, the stock market, even the electric grid. Until recently, America designed and built the fastest chips and maintained its lead as the #1 superpower, but America’s edge is in danger of slipping, undermined by players in Taiwan, Korea, and Europe taking over manufacturing.
