Historia
The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

No mystery
Revisado: 02-09-25
I thought a big part of this book was going to be the mystery of the silo, why are people there? where did it come from? why can't they be outside? who is doing all this? that is not the case, you pretty much figure out everything about the silo either directly or it's very easy to guess what's going on in the first 10 chapters. then after that it's just about the characters, revolution and a little bit of a love story. I found it quite boring, I struggled to finish this book. I don't think I'll be reading the second one. It was written well, the characters were good but it was just a lot about how everyone was thinking and feeling, just not for me.

Really got boring in the middle
Revisado: 12-05-23
I saw this on booktok and it seemed like it got great reviews. The beginning of this book puts out some interesting mysteries that you look forward to solving, then it's just 6 hours of the characters whining and giving their boring opinions and observations. this could have been half the length it was. by the time it got to the twist at the end I didn't even care anymore. I skipped more than a few chapters.

So many useless metaphors
Revisado: 09-22-23
This book could have been half the length of all the stupid metaphors and observations weren't used. a conversation between two people in this book is so slow example. Hi, he said to Hallie looking at her pale skin and wrinkled clothes, she looked like she was up the whole night like a long worn boot sitting wrinkled by the doorway. Hello she answered back, searching his face for some recognition of what she'd been through, or if he was hiding any secrets from her, he looked like politician with his crisp tie and white shirt she wondered if his wife ironed for him. How are you he asked, etc. etc. etc. a simple conversation takes about 30 minutes and it's exhausting to listen to. plus the Hallie catcher is unlikeable and just plain stupid.

Not whiny at all
Revisado: 09-05-23
if you're afraid that this book is going to be nothing but a whining mom feeling sorry for herself that her daughter was kidnapped like I was, let me assuage your fears. there is hardly any whining. lots of doing, lots of action. this book really pulls you in and has a great storyline.

On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. no underlying conspiracy just killing
Revisado: 03-23-23
This book is literally just a guy killing some people. no real underlying conspiracy that isn't fairly obvious from the beginning so it gets very boring very fast. also, I was kind of offended that his wife would just been murdered and he thinks the reporter girl that he's working with is sexy seemed very inappropriate made me instantly dislike the character

Not what I expected
Revisado: 05-26-20
I guess to me I love post-apocalyptic fiction because I want to know what people would do in order to survive, but a few hours into this book and nothing is really happening except he picked up his family who lives a few blocks away. It feels like he's droning on and on about pointless and stupid things and I find my mind wandering as I'm listening and I have no idea what's been said. The storyline seems interesting but as of now I'm really having trouble finishing this book. I was given this book for free in exchange for my unbiased review.

Good solid survivor fiction
Revisado: 05-26-20
This book was solid survivor/ post-apocalyptic fiction, it had everything a story of that kind needs including the good narrator. However it wasn't unique enough to really hold my attention, after reading dozens of these kind of books one just kind of bleeds into the other and it didn't stand out in any real way. I was given this book for free in exchange for my unbiased review.

Good second book
Revisado: 05-18-20
this is a good secund book on the series, a lot happens and it definitely keeps you on your toes. My only complaint is again like the first book the characters are painfully naive, but the author uses this tool a lot to drive the plot forward. I'll definitely listen the next book when it comes out. I was given this book for free in exchange for my unbiased review.
