Awesome story about a beautiful part of our world

It was difficult to concentrate on the story, as the narrator’s exaggerated accents and deep voice was most disturbing.
Revisado: 06-20-24
The Narrator overacted, his accents were exaggerated and distracting, and created, in the character of the American, the image of a hillbilly.

Historia
A stolen US army drone. A shrinking oasis in the Sahara Desert. A secret stash of deadly chemicals. Each is a threat to the stability of the world but individually are problems that can be overcome. In the diplomatic arena though, everyone will have a different way of dealing with such a threat. And when those in charge disagree and refuse to back down, it will kick off an international chain reaction with potentially catastrophic consequences: a world edging closer to war....

Wrong Narrator.
Revisado: 03-13-24
The Narrator was unconvincing, and read the story as if it was a romantic novel. She failed to induce any sense of tension or danger, and failed to even try to imitate any accents. The variety of races and tribes described in this novel calls for more than a sing-song monologue.

Historia
Ancient Egyptian civilization is so grand our minds sometimes have difficulty adjusting to it. It lasted 3,000 years, longer than any other on the planet. Its Great Pyramid of Cheops was the tallest building in the world until well into the 19th century and remains the only Ancient Wonder still standing. And it was the most technologically advanced of the ancient civilizations, with the medical knowledge that made Egyptian physicians the most famous in the world.

Enormously interesting, and I loved the enthusiasm with which this fascinating history was told!
Revisado: 02-26-24
I liked everything. One small criticism is that the orator repeated some statements in the same sentence.

Fascinating
Revisado: 10-02-23
Although I had some basic prior knowledge of this history, the unlikely version portrayed in the TV series made me want to know more. This book is brilliant, insightful, objective and well-researched. A thoroughly enjoyable “read”.

Historia
Ernest Hemingway said, “All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn". One hundred years after its author’s death, this classic remains remarkably modern and poignantly relevant. In this new edition, Elijah Wood reads Huck in a youthful voice that may be the closest interpretation to Twain’s original intent. His performance captures the excitement and confusion of adolescence and adventure.

Historia
Dirk Struan rose from humble beginnings to build Struan & Company, also known as the Noble House, into the world’s largest Far East trading company. He is now the Tai-Pan—Supreme Leader—of all Tai-Pans in China. Along the way, however, he made a powerful enemy. Tyler Brock, Struan’s rival from their early opium-smuggling days, also heads a large trading fleet, second in size only to Struan’s. But it is not only silks and spices that drive their mutual companies’ wealth—the opium trade is still booming. War between England and China might be over, but the hostilities remain.

Unfortunately he overacts. His “French” accent is Scottish, and he rasps the Chinese voices, with no trace of a Chinese accent.
