A must-read for counselors, parents and teachers
Revisado: 01-13-24
I read this book at the same time as listening to it. The little extras that Brené Brown adds to her writing causes you to feel like you are sitting across the table from her, having a friendly and educational conversation. Her book is chock full of research-based distinctions, giving words to feelings that are often quite difficult to explain. If parents and teachers would discuss these distinctions with young people as they are growing up, I think we would see fewer physical altercations and greater improved relationships in the coming years. Any professional in the field of psychology should definitely read this book.

Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Historia
Being transgender is a reality that is slowly, but surely, being understood. Out of the many biological and psychological theories that attempts to explain it, the mirror effect provides some of the best clues. Through this effect and the other available theories, misconceptions can be debunked, errors can be corrected, and most importantly, true understanding can be achieved.

Terrible coverage of an important topic
Revisado: 07-17-15
This is an overly simplistic and potentially harmful book about a very complex subject. Although I dont think the author intended it, the whole mirroring concept comes across as if Transgender people have "learned" behaviors that have caused them to be transgender. If the purpose of discussing "mirroring" is to try to explain how one could become dysphoric, the intention is not clear and could be easily misconstrued and therefore not helpful in bringing to light how transgender people are simply born this way.
