I read this book at the same time as listening to it. The little extras that Brené Brown adds to her writing causes you to feel like you are sitting across the table from her, having a friendly and educational conversation. Her book is chock full of research-based distinctions, giving words to feelings that are often quite difficult to explain. If parents and teachers would discuss these distinctions with young people as they are growing up, I think we would see fewer physical altercations and greater improved relationships in the coming years. Any professional in the field of psychology should definitely read this book.

Jen is spot-on! This book gets my very highest rating. It is everything I have learned that actually works to succeed in life, but it took me about 40 years to figure it out. Follow her advice and you will be on the fast track to expressing your badassness sooner than you know!

Everyone should read this book and decide for themselves if this is worth trying or not. I believe it could be the key to turning around the trends of illness in the Western world.

From history buffs, to avid time travel imagineers, to physicists, to teachers, to everyday people that just appreciate a good love story, THIS BOOK has it ALL!!! I could not put it down, and looked forward to every moment of this book. It never disappointed for a second. Brilliantly crafted. This has moved to the top of my favorite books of all time. Excellent performance by Craig Wasson, too.

This is an overly simplistic and potentially harmful book about a very complex subject. Although I dont think the author intended it, the whole mirroring concept comes across as if Transgender people have "learned" behaviors that have caused them to be transgender. If the purpose of discussing "mirroring" is to try to explain how one could become dysphoric, the intention is not clear and could be easily misconstrued and therefore not helpful in bringing to light how transgender people are simply born this way.
