I've been interested in tai chi and Qigong as a way to get back into martial arts without having to actually go to martial arts classes. Also, I'm interested in developing more mind and body connection, and just understanding my Chi, etc. I feel like this book was a great introduction to what Qigong is and some other helpful information such as learning more about Chi and foods that strengthen it and other random little tidbits. I did find the instructions for how to do the practice a little bit confusing/overwhelming when you're just listening without any pictures. I plan to start my practice with trying some classes on gaia.com, and looking another places as well like maybe YouTube. The narration was superb and only noted a couple mispronunciations, but the inflections and the voice really made a rather bland material Come to life! Bland as in just the fact it wasn't a story or something… The author did a great job of making it interesting!

Francine has managed to put the story of God's love for us into a setting and story our human minds can comprehend and relate to. Every character in this story has life changing lessons to give. Which character will you relate to the most? I know I don't have the patience of Michael Hosea but reading about his trust in God and faithfulness to God's Will has inspired me to *try* to be more forgiving in my own personal life. I cried, laughed, and triumphed with the characters in this story and you will too! I can see why this book is used to help people overcome past trauma - anyone hurting from invisible scars will especially take heart in this book. Can't say enough about this title. Download it! Right now! :)

It was good, don’t misunderstand. But it wasn’t great. I’m trying to think why it wasn’t great... what could have made it better.

I didn’t mind the bunny trails and details given that some people complain about. To me, all those details and bunny trails make the characters more real and paint a more vivid picture of what’s going on. So, I think the reason this book was just “okay” was because it only delivered facts and feelings related to the missions and friendship between the girls. I think I would have liked more romance. Even just a hint of romance. Like maybe a little flirting between Jaime and Maddie! And there was no humor to offset the dreariness and depression of the war. So much talk about death and suffering left me a little stunned (yes I know this is a WWII novel and I kinda asked for it) but there was no lightheartedness to counterbalance the heavy feelings. I wish I’d concluded the novel with feelings of a somewhat happy ending but there really wasn’t one. Kind of like when I watched the movie Angela’s Ashes (on the recommendation of a coworker), thinking it would eventually get better and there would eventually be a happy ending. Nope. Walked away from that movie with a similar feeling as this book, but I will at least say that Verity ended on a little bit higher of a note.

Meh. I liked The Book Thief better. But I think it’s time for a non-war novel next. I’m getting too saddened by all that wartime horror.

Would you consider the audio edition of Parallel Worlds to be better than the print version?

No idea. Probably in some ways, yes.

What could Michio Kaku have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I loved the illustrations and examples he gave to relate the complicated concepts to everyday life. Would've liked more if possible. And to the layperson, I don't really care about ultra-specific details - but I understand he wanted to be thorough. It just made the book drag a little for me.

Which character – as performed by Marc Vietor – was your favorite?

Einstein.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. Mind would have exploded.

Any additional comments?

I'd look for the abridged version if you're just a layperson like me who likes to watch documentaries on space and is intrigued about the possibility of time travel and parallel worlds -- but is not well steeped in the topic. I like physics but I, by no means, am an expert in math or physics. I have a very basic grasp of space, time, and physics. In all, this book was over my head and not extremely enjoyable. But Michio Kaku is amazing and I am by no means bashing him! This is a great book, especially for those of you who may have more knowledge than I do in this department!! Just beware, layperson, this may get a little tedious to listen to.
