Historia
In this truly inspirational audio book, Anita Moorjani relates how, after fighting cancer for almost four years, her body began shutting down - overwhelmed by the malignant cells spreading throughout her system. As her organs failed, she entered into an extraordinary near-death experience (NDE) where she realized her inherent worth... and the actual cause of her disease. Upon regaining consciousness, Anita found that her condition had improved so rapidly that she was released from the hospital within weeks - without a trace of cancer in her body!

Don't miss this one if you care about learning to love others with an open heart! This book does come from a non-nominational Christian viewpoint, but could easily be listened to by anyone that wants to love without fear, judgment, or reservation. The narration style is conversational and easy to listen to. I've listened to this book several times and plan to listen again in the future. It's that good!

Historia
Debbie Ford explains that the dark side of our personality should not be hidden. By denying our dark side, we reject aspects of our true natures rather than giving ourselves the freedom to live authentically. Here she shows that it is possible to acknowledge and accept our so-called weaknesses, proving that these qualities may be hidden strengths. Full of illuminating stories and practical exercises, Debbie Ford shows us how to reconcile our darker impulses and find the gifts they offer.

GREAT WAY TO DIG DEEP!
Revisado: 03-30-21
One of the best books I've read about recognizing and confronting unhelpful beliefs, and disempowering them. Anyone carrying feelings of shame, self-hatred, or unworthiness would benefit from these teachings and exercises. After working with the shadow, the final chapters get you started exploring your dreams and desires; what you want your life to look like. These chapters aren't comprehensive enough to guide me through my goals and dreams for the future, but this book is primarily about working with the shadow, and it does that very well. I absolutely recommend.

Building on the principles found in his father’s best-selling book The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz, Jr., invites us to gauge how attached we are to our own point of view. In The Five Levels of Attachment, he will help you gain awareness of the agreements you have been implicitly making all these years that shape your reality and affect your future and show you how to release the attachments which no longer reflect who you really are.

a very engaging book, easy to listen to, well narrated. Even though I've been studying mindfulness and attachment for a while, there's much to learn from this book. I'll be listening to it numerous times.

fantastic book! I admit I felt it started a bit slowly and I was tempted not to continue listening. however, it wasn't long until I was immersed in the author's story. I admire Ayaan's honesty and frankness; she is fearless in her quest to tell her truth and to fight for human rights. the fact that Ayaan narrates her own book is a plus to me, but because she has a rather thick accent she may be hard to understand for those who have auditory processing issues.

Born into the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Rachel Jeffs was raised in a strict patriarchal culture defined by subordinate sister wives and men they must obey.

A well told story, definitely a page turner
Revisado: 08-24-20
Rachel isn't a natural born narrator, but even so, there is a vulnerable quality to her voice that makes me glad that a professional didn't take her place. It would have felt wrong for this book to be read by anyone else.
It's hard to imagine living in fear to the degree that a leader like Warren Jeff's can take control of every aspect of his follower's lives. This book describes very well the mindset that such leaders cultivate and how they damage the people that trust them.
From the first paragraph I was drawn in and I listened every chance I could. Well done!

Historia
In 10 lectures, award-winning historian Patrick N. Allitt transports listeners to England in the 1840s and 1850s. During those two decades, Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, became one of the most influential people in the country and remains a figure of fascination even today. In fact, the British royal family as we know it wouldn't exist without the private and public actions of this detached, impartial, and upright political figure.

Does nature really make us feel better? The 3-Day Effect takes a look at the science behind why being in the wild can make us happier, healthier, and more creative. Whether it’s rafting down Utah’s Green River, hiking in Utah’s wilderness, or walking through Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, scientists are finding that the more exposure humans have to nature, the more we can benefit from reduced anxiety, enhanced creativity, and overall well-being.

Love the authenticity; it's a fun listen with a great point. My one and only con is that I can't listen to this with young kids around because of the occasional f bombs, maybe half a dozen of them, or so.

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.
