Good sources, bad writing

The author appears to belong to the Tim Ferriss school of self-praising optimisation anthologists that gather other people's ideas, add a lot of text padding to ensure the manuscript reaches the target size, and sell it as the new truth. Implicitly selling themselves as one of its Apostles. The end result is plain and mediocre. That being said, some of the sources are interesting, but I would hope there are more direct ways to get to said sources.

The german narration was good, except for the insistence of always pronouncing "Deep Work" in english and with special emphasis, as if to really make sure the listener memorizes a trade mark.

Interesting material, but delivery is lacking

The source material is (probably) fascinating. However, the writing is not engaging, and the voice talent does not improve upon it. Made me loose all interest in the book.

What a mess of a book

It feels like the unordered, rough draft of 1Q84. Some chapters are brilliant in execution and mood. But a substantial part of the book is simply too confused and unrelatable. Once more, excellent performance by David Nathan.

Excellent mindful work of fiction, there is nothing slow or boring about it, it is incredibly exciting. Do not this is the German edition. Great performance by the voice talent.

Che esperienza sconcertante

Questo libro sembra essere una eloquente rassegna di tutti i dettagli più meschini o noiosi tratti dalle vite di persone che invece erano probabilmente piuttosto affascinanti. L'ho ascoltato in un permanente stato di confusione quando alle intenzioni della scrittrice e spesso di astio nei confronti della famiglia più prossima così come viene descritta.

Sorpassata questa difficile premessa, il testo è fluido e scritto bene, quindi con un po' di pazienza si finisce. Verso la seconda metà diventa più interessante, specie quando parla di gente fuori dalla famiglia. Belle invece le parole sul suicidio di Cesare Pavese!

Ottima la performance della Margherita Buy.

Yikes, this book is terribly written and the most blatant block of ideological propaganda I've seen since the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is also involontarily hilarious — we are deep into "so bad it's good" territory.

I think I recommended it??
