A Thought-Provoking Read with Everyday Impact
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Power of Moments offers some solid new nuggets, along with familiar reminders if you’re already a fan of compliance psychology and influence tactics (guilty 🙋‍♀️). It’s one of those books that makes you reflect on how little things—done intentionally—can have a big impact.

One stat that stuck with me: people tend to remember the “peak” and the “end” of an experience more than any other part. That alone is a game-changer—whether you’re leading a team, planning an event, or just trying to make a dinner with family feel more special.

I especially loved the notes around moments of courage—how we can create them, not just wait for them. It’s a great mix of practical insights and feel-good motivation, without being fluffy. Definitely worth the read.

A Deep Dive Into My Wild Family Tree
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As someone who’s both a Hatfield and a McCoy (yes, seriously), I was especially thankful for a well-researched book like The Feud. It takes a thoughtful, deeper look into the blurred lines between folklore and fact—something that’s often missing from pop culture retellings of this infamous rivalry.

That said, keeping track of what feels like a thousand “feudists” was no easy task. Who did what to who, and why, and then who retaliated when—it’s a lot. But still, it’s a fascinating, gritty, and important telling of a story that shaped more than just a couple of last names.

If you're ready for a history book with drama, bloodlines, and a whole lot of “you’re not gonna believe this,” this one delivers.

Simple, Powerful, and Exactly What I Needed
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Next Conversation by Jefferson Fisher is an easy, short read—but don’t let that fool you. It’s packed with smart reminders and fresh tips that genuinely shift how you approach communication.

My favorite takeaway? “The first word is your breath.” That alone was worth the read. It’s grounding, practical, and honestly, something I needed to hear.

Funny enough, I didn’t realize until I was a few pages in that I’d already been following and loving his content on TikTok. His voice is just as relatable and insightful on paper as it is online. Highly recommend this one for anyone looking to level up how they show up in tough conversations.

A Powerful, Unforgettable Memoir
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved Angela’s Ashes. I only wish I had started here before reading 'Tis. Frank McCourt’s writing is raw, lyrical, and laced with just enough dark humor to keep you breathing through the heartbreak.

The opening line—about life being hard for Irish kids, especially Catholic Irish kids—perfectly sets the tone. It pulls you in immediately and doesn’t let go. McCourt paints his childhood with such vivid detail that you feel the dampness of Limerick, the hunger, the shame, and the slivers of joy that somehow still managed to exist.

This book isn’t just a memoir. It’s a masterpiece of storytelling. Honest, painful, beautiful—and completely unforgettable.

Watch Out—My Negotiation Game Just Leveled Up

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you don’t think I’ve already been using some of the tactics from Never Split the Difference on you… think again. Now that I’ve got actual training from a former FBI hostage negotiator, you’re all in trouble. (Just kidding... kind of.)

This book is 🔥. Practical, smart, and honestly, fun to read. My two biggest weaknesses—listening more and pausing instead of jumping in—were front and center here. And Voss doesn’t just tell you what to do, he shows you how it works in real life.

It’s like therapy for your communication skills but with way cooler stories. If you want to be more effective in everyday conversations, tough talks, or even just getting your kid to clean their room—this book is a game-changer.

Heartbreaking, Gripping, and Tragically Beautiful

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don’t think I’ll ever stop consuming stories about WWII—each one is so different, so personal, and so devastating in its own way. Rescued from the Ashes is no exception. It’s a tragically beautiful story, made bearable only by the fact that it ends in survival. But the fear and anxiety it provokes? It’s intense.

Reading about the desperate strategies families used to survive—like couples splitting up or handing off their children to strangers—was gut-wrenching. As a mother, the thought of giving my child away, not knowing where they were or if I’d ever see them again… it’s unimaginable. Yet, for many women in this book, that was the only hope. Babies were almost always a death sentence.

My heart broke multiple times, my anxiety was through the roof, but I couldn’t look away. I kept reading because I knew there was survival at the end—and even that sliver of hope was worth it. A powerful read.

Beautifully Written and Deeply Moving

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tis' by Frank McCourt is an absolute gem. His writing is effortless, weaving subtle humor into even the most challenging moments of his journey. Following him through his immigration to the U.S. and watching him grow over the years felt like experiencing a life alongside him.

McCourt has a way of making the ordinary feel extraordinary, capturing both the struggles and small victories of finding one’s place in a new world. His storytelling is raw, honest, and beautifully human. A must-read for anyone who appreciates memoirs that make you laugh, ache, and reflect all at once.

I absolutely loved The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. So much so that I even had my 13-year-old listen to parts of it on Audible! The concept of letting go of the need to control or change others was incredibly enlightening—it made me rethink how much energy we waste trying to "fix" things that aren’t ours to fix.

One of the most powerful takeaways was the discussion on how many adults never learned how to communicate their feelings. That hit deep. This book is a game-changer, and honestly, I think everyone should read (or listen to) it. Simple, impactful, and full of those "aha" moments that stick with you.

A Haunting, Essential Read

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ravensbrück by Sarah Helm is a devastating, deeply researched account of the only all-female concentration camp during WWII. Page after page, it tears at your soul, immersing you in the unimaginable suffering these women endured. I applaud those who survived and bravely shared their stories, mourn those who never had the chance, and completely understand the silence of those who could never speak of it again.

Nearly every chapter left my stomach in knots, but the sections on the babies and children were especially unbearable. Helm’s meticulous research ensures that the horrors of Ravensbrück will never be forgotten. This book is not an easy read, but it is an important one—one that ensures history is remembered exactly as it was, no matter how painful.

A Decent Read, But Nothing Groundbreaking

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Hard Thing About Hard Things was… fine. It covers leadership struggles and decision-making in tough situations, but nothing felt particularly fresh or eye-opening. A lot of the advice boils down to common sense: stay honest, manage emotions, and handle tough conversations head-on.

I was hoping for a unique or deeper perspective, but instead, I got an attempt at a modern take—complete with quotes from rappers like Jay-Z and Kanye West. Given the current climate, those references don’t exactly age well.

If you're new to leadership books, this might be a solid primer. But if you've read a few already, you probably won’t find much new here.
