Historia
Detective Chief Inspector Ryan retreats to Holy Island seeking sanctuary when he is forced to take sabbatical leave from his duties as a homicide detective. A few days before Christmas, his peace is shattered, and he is thrust back into the murky world of murder when a young woman is found dead amongst the ancient ruins of the nearby priory. Every cliche there is
Revisado: 02-03-23
I honestly think this could have been written by a computer program, it is so utterly predictable and cliche from start to finish. Remote location, haunted detective, sicko serial killer, romance rooted in mutual aggravation, with not a trace of grace or humor in the writing. Uggh.

Sententious and hard to follow
Revisado: 04-01-22
Hard to get into the plot with all the confusing back and forth jumps and by the end I thought I’d scream if the narrator launched into another ponderous generalization, especially about women

Implausible romance posing as implausible thriller
Revisado: 10-05-21
If you liked Rebecca you might like this. I found it tiresome and the reading was weirdly dissonant with the tone of the writing
