Historia
The prophecy declares the darkness that once brought the world to its knees will return. The timing is no coincidence and I can’t help but fear it all points back to me. With my heritage revealed, I finally know where I fit in. It’s not what I expected, but I can’t change it, just like I can’t change who I am drawn to. A shifter, a demon, a vampire, an angel.

Take a shot...
Revisado: 08-27-24
Every time someone wets, mashes or bites their lips.
Seriously though... that's like all they do besides having sex, the unit being overly hormonal and testosterone fueled to function properly, the unit demanding that she basically tells them EVERYTHING about herself... like if they couldn't just barge in on her they'd probably demand to know how many BMs she has a day, FL overreacting and storming off to hide in her room every time she gets new information after blowing up at the guys and pushing them away and a teeny tiny bit of plot progression if you can find it between the sex scenes.

My story? It’s wrought with violence. Strewn with blood. Dominated by desire. My stepmother, the evil queen, hates me. She wants me dead but hasn’t killed me yet. At her insistence, a never-ending line of repugnant suitors vie for my hand, but when I decline each and every one, the evil queen punishes me...severely. She will stop at nothing until I’m sold or dead.

Wow... in a bad way
Revisado: 11-12-22
Honestly, this is a bad combination of torture porn and poorly written erotica. I downloaded this because I wanted an adult fairy tale, not for rapey torture by the queen and her minions and some weird vampire orgy fest with the sins. I liked the concept but it's just disappointing. Snow is incredibly immature and her language and the language of others take me out of the story. The story is set in medieval times and yet everyone curses with words a horny woman hating incel might use in modern times. Then Snow is repeatedly beaten, paraded around naked and sexually assaulted by pretty much everyone in the castle and whenever she escapes, the Seven keep sending her back. I couldn't even get through the whole book. I tried but four hours of overly graphic abuse scenes was enough for me. I've read/listened to some dark stories but this was over the top.

Butch O'Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard-living ex-homicide cop, he's the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world-to engage in the turf war with the lessers. His heart belongs to a female vampire, Marissa, an aristocratic beauty who's way out of his league. And if he can't have her, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers.

Sigh
Revisado: 05-09-22
I love Butch and his internal dialogue/thought process cracks me up but I can't stand Marissa. I get that some of her issues are due to how she was raised and the mental and emotional damage taken by the high society snobs and Wrath's rejection but Jesus Christ. She's hot then she's cold at the beginning and freaks out about literally everything. Then she's selfish and controlling, trying to tell Butch what he can and can't do and trying to change him. I really wish she wasn't one of the women. Especially not Butch's. He deserves someone that supports him for once and I really don't think Marissa is the right one.
Still enjoy the series. just really disappointed in this one. Thank God for the random Vishous and John POVs or I don't think I would have been able to make it through it.

I really enjoyed this story. I thought the characters were great and I definitely didn't guess the ending. I loved Verity as a strong female lead and I thought the author did a good job bringing all of the other characters to life.
I really hope a different narrator is chosen for later books though. She sounded like she was going up and down a hill with every four or five words regardless if it was the end of a sentence or not. She also did not observe punctuation in between sentences so it could get a little confusing if you weren't giving the book 100% of your attention especially with the aforementioned rise and fall of tone. Kind of frustrating but the story was good enough to keep me engaged despite the narration.

Terrible Female Lead
Revisado: 03-23-22
I tried to hold out thinking that there would be some character development that would make Rose more tolerable but, to the very end, she was nothing but a stupid spoiled brat. I think the author's plan was to make her an independent and headstrong educated young lady beyond her time but instead made an immature idealistic brat too stupid for life that does nothing but whine and pout through the whole thing. Any time someone tells her she can't do something, she throws a fit, sulks or cries about it. Then she blunders through the investigation and hinders more than helps. She's supposedly intelligent but she's so breathtakingly naive that she just sounds like a child wondering why the world isn't fair. She refuses to accept that she's behaving in an unusual way to everyone else or to try a different method of investigation. She also has no interest in even trying to get along and alienates everyone that could possibly help her. Seriously unlikable character with no signs of improvement. If it weren't for the author's plans of what I am sure will be a future romance, I wouldn't see Harry sticking around either. The tension between them is totally unbelievable and forced on his part and non-existent in hers since she is insistent on hating him for doing nothing but helping her. Will not listen to another book in this series. Probably not by this author either. Sorry for those of you who liked it but, to me, it's just bad writing.

Super funny in a ridiculous sort of way. I did get a little whiplash in the beginning with all the world and perspective jumping but it sorted itself out by the end. I definitely need to adopt some goblins... or just visit Bastian Sector 10 for a day or so.

I mean....
Revisado: 12-11-20
If Albany Walker was trying to write an actual caveman into the story, she certainly succeeded. Mason was a big dopey idiot with rage issues. I fully expected him to shout "My female! No touch!" followed by grunts and chest pounding. I'm not kidding. This is not a metaphorical caveman but literal knuckle dragging neanderthal. He roars at everyone and threatens to kill anyone who even breathes in Sophia's general direction, make and female. His first reaction to EVERYTHING is violent. He even "loses control" and verbally abuses Sophia a few times... not to mention the fucked up sex in the middle that left her bruised and bleeding because he, again, "lost control" and was only thinking of himself. He's a terrible mate and a terrible Alpha... like seriously, he threatens his brother and his packmates for the smallest of infractions. If they do much as try to question him, he shoots it down and then growls at them for even suggesting an idea other than his own. Sophia has to constantly hold his hand to keep him from flying off the handle and, every time she does, she has to coo at him like he's a child throwing a temper tantrum... which he essentially is. All of this is made worse by the narrator. He wasn't that bad EXCEPT when he narrated Mason. He made him sound just as whiny/ragey as he was written. I don't know if that made him a good narrator or a bad one. I know some narrators can make bad writing sound good... Either way, my ears were bleeding.
Then there's Sophia. I think I would have liked her more up against literally any other H/. She tries to stand up to him but then she always ends up just forgiving him in the end and pretending like it's no big deal. She had potential to be a badass female lead but she let Mason and Roxanne tear her down and make her insecure.
Overall, I really didn't like this book at all. Towards the end, it was actually physically painful to listen to. I made myself finish though so I could give you a full review. Would NOT recommend.

Elite. Excellence. Entitled. That's what Sparrowood Academy looks like from the outside. Depraved. Deceitful. Destructive. Those on the inside know it's rotten to the core. Reform school would have been easier, but Eden and the K-Boys didn't have a choice. The higher-ups need the brats at Sparrowood kept in check - and they may be the only ones who can do it.... If they don't get destroyed in the process.

Seriously
Revisado: 11-24-20
I got through the first book because I figured, growning pains. Eden just needed to work through her issues with the boys and actually start trusting them and it would be fine. Made it through most of the second book and Eden continues to make stupid and reckless decisions without asking for help... even though she's still hiding behind the guys while pretending to be strong.
Honestly a lot of things don't make sense in the book period and I can't really go into detail without spoilers. Mainly because the biggest issue I have with the series is a huge spoiler and, if for some reason, you guys can actually stomach a weak willed brat for a FMC that literally takes two seconds to break in the second book the moment she's threatened with any kind of dirt, I don't want to ruin it for you. It was a DNF for me the second she gave in. I was already having a hard time listening at that point but that was it for me.

Meh
Revisado: 11-16-20
I don't know. I was excited for this one because Jetta was so bada$$ in the other books but I was a little disappointed. She had her though chick moments but I couldn't wrap my head around her wanting to be dominated when she has such a dominant personality. There's a way to write dominant play that makes it sexy as hell but it just felt wrong with Jericho and Jetta. He goes from loving her dominance and the fact that she can beat the hell out of him to demanding that she submit to him when it doesn't suit him at all to play that role. The sex talk was just... ugh too and the way he kept saying very publicly that he was going to spank her for talking back to him like she couldn't snap him like a twig if she wanted and he knew she wasn't comfortable with the pack knowing what was going on. I don't know. Not my favorite paring ever.
I also feel like the opportunity to write a truly strong female character was lost here. Like I said, Jetta had her moments but she also had a lot of weak squishy moments. Honestly, I think Addie was stronger than she was sometimes. So that was a bit of a letdown too.
As for the narrator, I just didn't care for her voice. Especially when she narrated the guys.

We were Army Rangers, the best of the best. And then one day, everything that we worked so hard to become was ripped away. Now, we're in some podunk town, trying to find a sense of normal among the crazy, and learn how to live again. That gets a hell of a lot harder to do when a virus spreads mercilessly across the country, killing 85 percent of the people who contract it. In the midst of the panic, we're tasked with one last rescue mission. It's just our luck that the fool we're rescuing doesn't believe that the world as we know it is actually ending.

This book was meant to be light and funny but it also highlighted some of the difficulties veterans face when coming home as well as some eerie similarities to what we're having now or could be facing in the future. I'm sure the community of Endstone would be eating this Corona business up.
Very fun read. I admit I almost finished it in one sitting but I forced myself to wait until work the next day to finish the last hour and a half. It was hard but I did it. 100% recommend if you want to laugh until you cry.
