I thoroughly enjoyed “Forget Nothing” Part I so I had high hopes for Part II. What a letdown! I found the ending of this sequel disappointing, but I could overlook that if the journey to that conclusion was enjoyable. Instead, it was tedious and predictable, filled with all the trite cliches you’ve seen or read in every other bootcamp story or movie. The high-tech gloss and science fiction trappings do nothing to freshen the worn-out storyline. If you enjoyed Part I, do yourself a favor and don’t taint your fond recollections of the first book by reading or listening to this loser of a follow up.

From the start of this audiobook, you know that Monica and Ray, the two heroines, would pass on the street without sparing the other a second glance. Monica's a high maintenance, high-end femme wedding planner, and Ray's a down-to-Earth, let's get-'er-done handyma'am. The fun is wondering how fate - or, to be more precise, Miranda MacLeod - will bring this pair of polar opposites together. Miranda's plot includes a romcom romp into central Massachusetts, an unlikely location indeed for a winery. (After all, Fitchburg is NO Napa, trust me!) It's an even more unlikely location for romance to bloom. Yet, MacLeod pulls it off convincingly and, most importantly, entertainingly. The reader, Lori Prince, does a great job differentiating the two women's voices so there's never any doubt which heroine has the floor. This is definitely a fun read - or listen - for a romcom fan.

Faith L. Justice's collection of historical short stories introduces readers to intriguing, relatable, and sympathetic characters living in time periods spanning the ancient world, through colonial America, and up to the present day. I particularly enjoyed her pair of stories about the imagined past of her German ancestor in pre-Revolutionary Pennsylvania. John Lutz is an eminently likeable character because he's a bit of an underdog. Other underdogs in her collection include a plucky Roman boy who is a thief - and a swamp rat. The audio performances by Gordon Rothman and Justice herself give rich, warm voice to Justice's creative vision. These stories are definitely worth a read - or a listen!
