I could feel their big hearts reaching to embrace me halfway across the globe.
Revisado: 09-02-24
This couple is so relatable, with soothing voices to boot. They were so real and raw and equally loving and motivating... all the things a neuro divergent craves when we feel alone and misunderstood. It's rare to feel like there's enough room for my "big" personality, but they held a space that seemed to beg me to let out the artist inside of me that I've gagged and chained in order to "fit in," with plenty of space for the inevitable mess that comes with it. I'm thinking I might just try writing even though I feel you old and that I have morning important to say, because they believe in me, even with ADHD. 🥹💯🙏

Historia
We live in difficult times. Life so often seems like a turbulent river threatening to drown us and destroy our world. Why, then, shouldn’t we cling to the certainty of the comfortable - to our deep-seated habits and familiar ways? Because, Pema Chödrön teaches, that kind of fear-based clinging keeps us from the infinitely more powerful experience of being fully alive.

I usually try to breathe in calm and clarity, but this describes the advantage of breathing in the heaviness of our situation and breathing out tranquility... really powerful!

Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Historia
Few books have had such an impact as Wild Swans: a popular best seller and a critically acclaimed history of China that opened up the country to the world. Through the story of three generations of women in her own family - the grandmother given to the warlord as a concubine, the Communist mother, and the daughter herself - Jung Chang reveals the epic history of China's twentieth century. Breathtaking in its scope, unforgettable in its descriptions, this is a masterpiece that is extraordinary in every way.

of all the habit books I've read, this is the most practical-get-into-my-life information. I appreciate all the additional resources and how he plays on our million year old instincts to work in our favor. He writes out the map that bridges our current reality to our big dreams... one itty-bitty step at a time, thank you James, for making the path so CLEAR! 😉

Historia
Debbie Ford explains that the dark side of our personality should not be hidden. By denying our dark side, we reject aspects of our true natures rather than giving ourselves the freedom to live authentically. Here she shows that it is possible to acknowledge and accept our so-called weaknesses, proving that these qualities may be hidden strengths. Full of illuminating stories and practical exercises, Debbie Ford shows us how to reconcile our darker impulses and find the gifts they offer.

I love that the meditations are included in the narrative. I feel she created a space for me to create a space for myself to fully embrace all aspects of me for the first time.
