Historia
Do you believe your struggle with anger stems from the wrong behavior you see displayed in your children? The knee-jerk reactions and blowups you're facing are often a result of a bigger set of "triggers". Some of these are external, like a child's disobedience, back talk, or selective hearing, while others are internal, like an overflowing schedule, sleep deprivation, or perhaps your own painful experiences from childhood.

I would call this book, “Biblical Truths for Bringing Up Boys”
Revisado: 08-17-19
Whether you wrestle with anger or not, this book gives encouragement and solid, grace-filled biblical direction for leading strong and active kids with gentleness, kindness and love so they can see the very grace of God mirrored in our lives.
Giving sound scriptural references and real-life examples, the authors address everything that can fluster is and derail our best grace-filled intentions, from strong-willed kids to being ignored, to disrespectful behavior, whining and complaining, to lack of margin and peace, to stressful life circumstances. For each type of stressor (which the authors term “triggers”) the book gives encouragement and advice on right responses that build up our family and glorify God, including scripts for dealing with difficult and challenging behavior.
The authors lovingly and gracefully point Mother’s’ hearts back to God as the one who can give us peace in our hearts when our circumstances feel anything but peaceful. It’s beautifully narrated by the authors themselves and is one I will recommend to any mom, but particularly moms of young boys.
I found myself listening to sections again and again to hear the scripts and examples given for behaviors I see in my home now, and as I work in those scripts, I am enjoying deeper connections and more peace-filled moments as a boy mom.
Even with a background of child development education, and a shelf full of resources on the topic, I found great value in the wisdom this book offers. What is unique about this book is the way it ministers to the frustrations and challenges in a mama’s heart, and shows us how to draw closer to God even when our world is overrun with loud, chaotic days.

Poorly edited, didn't care for the narration
Revisado: 02-15-16
The premise and storyline seemed promising, but it started slowly and took a long time to warm up.
Early on, I found the narrator's mis-pronunciations of Zumba (as "zumm-ba") and ramen noodles (as "ray-men", used multiple times) as well as several other words to be a distraction.
Lisa Scott also has a narration style similar to that of Amy Rubinate, using a "hyped" voice as though she is doing a news radio show, rather than the conversational style of the book material, and ending sentences heavily on the last letter of the last word -- particularly if the word ended with an "s", a "sh" or a soft g as at the end of "cabbage". Again, this served as a distraction throughout the book as the narration called attention to itself rather than being useful in bringing the written material to life.
Additionally, the narrator frequently repeated lines, either that were read in the wrong voice or with an inflection she didn't like and wanted to do over, but the outtakes were never edited away. This continued throughout the entire book.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be a poorly-used credit on my audible account.

Historia
When Imogen returns to work at Glossy after six months away, she can barely recognize her own magazine. Eve, fresh out of Harvard Business School, has fired "the gray hairs", put the managing editor in a supply closet, stopped using the landlines, and hired a bevy of manicured and questionably attired underlings who text and tweet their way through meetings.

Loved it!
Revisado: 06-26-15
I could not devour this audio book fast enough and I'm already craving a sequel! The peek at the fashion publishing world is fun, and the generational culture clash in the story could apply to any industry. Eve Morton is one villain you'll love to hate more and more as you grow to love Imogen Tate. Wonderful narration job by Katherine Kellgren, who brought the characters to life perfectly. I hope the authors have plans for another novel in this genre, and soon!

This is not a how-to audiobook. This is not the latest and greatest dieting plan. This audiobook is the necessary companion for you to use alongside whatever healthy lifestyle plan you choose. This is an audiobook and Bible study to help you find the "want to" in making healthy lifestyle choices.

Sounds great at 1.25x
Revisado: 06-12-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! To any friend who has struggled to maintain healthy eating habits, this book gives insight and encouragement with Lysa's wonderful sense of humor.
What did you like best about this story?
Lysa's firsthand experience struggling with food cravings and weight, and her honesty about the experience and her feelings of frustration.
What does Jill Brennan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Initially, I was disappointed to learn the book was not narrated by the author. But Ms. Brennan often reads things the way I would imagine Lysa would too, except for the narration speed. It was uncomfortably slow, to the point that I actually stopped listening for a few weeks. When I came back to it, I listened at 1.25x speed and enjoyed it.

Historia
Jodi Taylor’s best-selling series The Chronicles of St. Mary is back with a bang…St. Mary’s has been rebuilt, and it’s business as usual for the history department. But first there’s the little matter of a 17th-century ghost that only Mr. Markham can see. Not to mention the minor inconvenience of being trapped in the Great Fire of London…and an unfortunately timed comfort break at Thermopylae, leaving the fate of the Western world hanging in the balance.

This might be the best installment yet...
Revisado: 04-25-15
I came across this series by chance and I am so glad I did! The first book had me so glued to the story I listened to it in one session. Each sequel has had its share of excitement, twists and adventures, but this one had me from hello, all over again.
Zara Ramm's narration has once again brought the story to life perfectly. I was delighted to learn the short stories are now available in audio too.
Well done, Ms. Taylor, as a reader all I can say is... "An honour and a privilege" -- and I can hardly wait for the next one!
