Historia
For thousands of years, Jews have looked to the Hebrew Bible, also known as the Old Testament by Christians, for their origins, and have located in them the tenets of their faith. However, much of what is recognized today as Judaism does not appear in the Bible. How did Judaism develop from its biblical roots to the highly developed system we know today? What has changed - and what has remained constant? In this series of 24 spirited and provocative lectures, Professor Gafni investigates how the Jewish faith struggled to continually redefine itself during the first thousand years after the completion of the last books of the Hebrew Bible.

Essential
Revisado: 07-30-21
This is essential information for the newcomer to Judaism, especially one who wants to understand the emergence of Rabbinic Judaism from its ancient roots. The professor is clear and engaging. The issues are still relevant. Give it a listen, even if you're not a beginner. You'll learn a great deal. Perhaps this course is especially helpful to Christians who want to understand how Judaism maintained continuity throughout its late and post-Biblical trials.

Historia
In almost every way that matters, historical Europe was the laboratory in which the world you now live in was conceived and tested. And you'll be living with the consequences for the rest of your life. These 48 lectures lead you through the doors of that laboratory and guide you through the development of Europe from the late Middle Ages through the eve of World War II.

Great experience
Revisado: 07-28-21
This is an excellent , intellectually based approach to European history. The professor is in full command. There is not a single boring lecture: all are stimulating. There are facts, but it is ideas which are emphasized. I recommend it very highly. I will listen to it again, I'm sure.
