Historia
A heroic young thief and her family fight against the darkness that threatens the entire land in the riveting final volume of this fantasy adventure saga. An increasingly talented and skilled shadowthief, Gatina of House Furtius—known in more rebellious circles as the Kitten of Night—continues her covert work in the ongoing struggle against the vile usurper Count Vichetral. Vichetral's dominion over the duchy of Alshar has grown ever darker, with slavery now legal and vicious gangs brutally enforcing his will.

Not a lot.

Sadly my least favorite of all the Spellmonger books. I know it's supposed to be YA but this book was very juvenile compared to the rest of the books.

Historia
Minalan the Spellmonger has come a long way since he woke up to a goblin invasion almost a decade ago. Since then, he has built cities and mighty armies, invented new enchantments, and pioneered entirely new fields of magic. Now that the Witch Queen of Darkfaller has taken over one of the most powerful castles in the center of the kingdom, he has to marshal all his resources—political, military, and arcane—to try to drive her from the strategic and symbolically important stronghold.

Historia
In 1949, during her junior year abroad in Paris, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis bought several inexpensive paintings of Marie-Antoinette by a little-known 18th-century female artist. She also had a romantic relationship with Virginia vineyard owner Lucie Montgomery’s French grandfather - until recently, a well-kept secret. Seventy years later, Cricket Delacroix, Lucie’s neighbor and Jackie’s schoolfriend, is donating the now priceless paintings to a Washington, DC, museum.

A Thinly Veiled Attempt
Revisado: 08-28-21
I have always loved this author and have read all of her books. This book however is the last book by this author I will ever read. Instead of a pleasant murder mystery that I wanted it is a thinly veiled attempt to push her social adjenda of fear mongering climate change, illegal immigrants and gay marriage. No thanks I can get that everyday on television.

Historia
It is said by some that the Spellmonger’s exile to the Magelaw left Sevendor, the City of Magic, unprotected in his absence. That would be untrue, for though the mightiest mage of the era was forced by law and custom to refrain from visiting his realm in Castal, he left behind a significant body of learned and dedicated colleagues to continue his policies and see to the protection of the magelands. These were not all warmagi, nor even High Magi; indeed, the strength of Sevendor depended on magi of all types and descriptions.

Needs more story less pro atheist.
Revisado: 03-04-18
If I wanted a book to teach strong pro atheist ideas I wouldn't have chosen fiction. I loved his earlier books but didn't finish this one. Too much preaching the authors ideas, not enough fiction reading. I read for fun not to be indoctrinated by the author.

Just awful
Revisado: 07-01-15
What would have made Let Sleeping Dogs Lie better?
Never again will I purchase an Audiobook by Rita Mae Brown. The author narrates the book herself. Her voice has become so horse and raspy I can barley stand to listen. Plus if she tries to add any emotion her voice cracks.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The fox hunting descriptions.
How could the performance have been better?
Someone else should have narrated the book. I am quite sure anyone else would have been better.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Let Sleeping Dogs Lie?
The performance by the author was so bad it was hard to remember anything.
Any additional comments?
I was looking for a good book about fox hunting with an accurate portrayal of the people who ride. This wasn't it.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

What disappointed you about The Book Thief?
The depressing story that never let up.
Would you ever listen to anything by Markus Zusak again?
No
Which scene was your favorite?
I didn't like any of them.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Being narrated by death was creative.
Any additional comments?
So depressing I finally just skimmed chapters.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

It would have been better shorter
Revisado: 12-31-13
Would you try another book from Donna Tartt and/or David Pittu?
Maybe
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
All the views into Theo's mind
Have you listened to any of David Pittu’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not listened to any other performances
Do you think The Goldfinch needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Good heavens no, this one is way too long.
Any additional comments?
Parts were wonderful, many other sections just drug and drug along. At one point I decided just to quit listening, then decided to fast forward through a lot. I would have really enjoyed the book if it didn't get so tedious many times.
