Historia
Mysterious gateways are appearing throughout the universe, bridging violent civilizations, leading to war, and sowing chaos. While some species succumb to the pandemonium, the Chut’un forge an unholy symbiotic relationship—The Order—with red Europhids, a vast hive intelligence populating the universe’s far reaches. Desiring structure and fearing the unknown, they cull everything opposed to their plan, including the Europhids’ blue counterparts, carrying out a galactic genocide until only one blue Europhid remains...inside Moses Montgomery, a.k.a. "Dark Horse".

Fun, great pace, fantastic narration, & tie ins
Revisado: 05-05-22
Glad I read half the books needed to understand the story, but Robinson explains enough it would work without having read the other stories. Bray is amazing as usual. Robinson is serious about accomplishing a pulling together of heroes and stories, but get's to have fun with the characters and writing. Never dull, lots of fighting, monster aliens, spastic teen agers, sexy elderly women, all trying to save the universe makes this a enjoyable listen.

The recording is distracting
Revisado: 04-05-22
So, a big fan of A. Lee Martinez, but couldn't finish this recorded version and I'm bummed, doubly so, since we really looked forward to it and my reason is slightly superficial and lacks compassion in the time of covid. Honestly, it's my own impatience and expectations.
Let me explain. We (I) have come to expect a lot from narrators and a bit more from the production company since their quality has been so high. The narrators do fantastic range of voices, considering the text, the intonations, and effective phrasing adding to the quality of experience. Here, the narrator Cynthia Farrell does great on all but phrasing and it's this that I am embarrassed by my impatience and lack of compassion.
I don't know if Farrell has COPD, long term Covid, or what has happened, but there's a very audible intake of breath between very short phrases of text. Both the breath and short phrasing become very distracting very quickly and i know we should be patient and accepting of people who are different, but it just isn't possible here, at least for me.
There is more than some responsibility that should fall on the production company, who is also responsible for high expectations by putting out fantastic recordings. However, we've been let down by the intake of breath that could have been edited out or diminished in the studio, but wasn't. I would hope they would fix this to the level of their other recordings, but if they released this in this state, then it's doubtful.
So, in this one case, I'd recommend not purchasing this A. Lee Martinez audio recording unless you enjoy listening to a really good narrator who's struggling to breath and wants to hate on audio books for poor production.

Historia
In a world full to bursting with would-be heroes, Jim couldn't be less interested in saving the day. His fireballs fizzle. He's awfully grumpy. Plus, he's been dead for about 60 years. When a renegade necromancer wrenches him from eternal slumber and into a world gone terribly, bizarrely wrong, all Jim wants is to find a way to die properly, once and for all. On his side, he's got a few shambling corpses, an inept thief, and a powerful death wish. But he's up against tough odds....

Zombies and Theology made smartly.
Revisado: 04-10-18
Would you listen to Mogworld again? Why?
In time i would.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Mogworld?
the last few chapters.
Have you listened to any of Yahtzee Croshaw’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
yes, this work is more involved in concept that others. others may be more fun, but this presents reality and theology in a humorous and smart fashion.
Any additional comments?
So, an interesting read. Starts off as a zombie middle earth type thing, ends up as a clever and funny look at Heaven, the nature of God, and reality. Stays snarky and funny through out and very smart.
