Historia
On a beautiful spring morning on the island of Pellestrina, south of the Lido on the Venetian lagoon, a small fishing boat moored at the docks suddenly explodes. When it becomes clear that the fire was deliberately set and the boat’s owners brutally murdered, Commissario Brunetti tries to dig up information from Pellestrina’s close-knit - and closemouthed - citizenry. But it is with mixed feelings that he accepts Signorina Elettra’s offer to visit her relatives there and search for clues.

Not so good
Revisado: 02-19-25
I loved this series but the last two have been boring in the extreme more than a story of events and interesting interactions it becomes rather abstract philosophy and descriptions of persons true or fictional of tales I could not listen to and was in fast forward most of this one. I kept saying to myself get on with it!!!

It was a bit confusing at first to identify the characters but I stuck with it. I was rewarded maybe the best fun of the month if not the past six month. Great narrator which often makes a big difference. Go for it!!!

With characters but then I wake up or is so well organized one does not get as I say I wish I was an artist so I can paint them I. My head No one l led if you do that it is good for the mind and creative benefit and even do a quick profile ov the character x thing really fun for teaching complex lit to paint the picture mentally clothed them play a little. For each character is a book in it self. I know sounds silly but it is a fun game.

I made it to chapter 11. By that time I wanted to scream get on with it. If I heard one more description of her dog! However I will admit he was the only good character, or being named Ruby guess it was female. But the author had a good plot start of proceeding if it was not hampered by useless details. At times I had hope with the description of the busy body and the reporter. I guess I could say author had hope if she stuck to business. And had some early hints of motive. And I remember what Anthony Trollope said in his bio. If he created the characters the plot and story will happen.

Triple truth
Revisado: 07-16-24
Being of rather ancient age I remember where I was and the following hour running thru the office building and trying to clear three upper floors from the seventh being adjacent to the LA airport. I was in early. I had no time to explain. I was glad to read this great book. I knew something was wrong. How could we be so blind. Yes the final words hit hard. And my sister was in Iraq from being out and around to being confined to the green zone and wearing armor to going to catch a plane in an armored vehicle. If we don’t have the truth and be hypnotized by fake news. I don’t know every historian professional or hobby should read this book. I know the courage and dedication to construct this gift thank you audible. You don’t have enough stars for this one.

One more good story with a terrific narrator. I started another of the writes story I guess a different series. Go figure the narrator was so terrible I could not get thru the first chapter. Alyssa should not have that person destroy her great stories. But I will keep up with the author. I usually don’t write a long review but this author is so good and makes remember my own trip to Newport.
