Historia
The world moves and it waits for none. Assigned by the Duchess to investigate the strange foreigners who were encountering in dialogue with the tribes of the mountains, Ling Qi, Cai Renxiang, and their companions must take a perilous journey through the wild mountains, and see what can be made of their intentions. A difficult and none-too-popular task, for the people of the Empire have only ever met barbarians with war. Or have they, history is not as simple as it seems.

Another good installment but it leaves you wanting more.
Revisado: 06-26-24
First of all this series is great. If you haven’t started listening to it and you enjoy the cultivation genre, start listening to it. Natalie Nadus does a fantastic job Narrating Yrsilars engaging characters and well written prose. This is the slice of life novel at its best. The plot moves the world is built, but ultimately the emphasis always on the characters their lives, motivations and struggles and Yrsilar has a knack for carving out little arcs and stories for even the minor characters, it all weaves together to make a sum that is more then it’s parts.
With that said I want more. The written version of these books is far ahead of the audio but I enjoy the narration and don’t want to spoil it for myself so I wait and then binge every release now I have to wait another 6 months to a year for the next installment. That’s my only complaint.

Historia
The manhunt has officially begun. Now the target of a game-wide Holy War, Ned is forced to flee the Onyx Sands. The odds are stacked against him; Tyrann has tens of thousands of followers, a religion that’s spreading like wildfire, and a powerful god that will be stepping into the world of EBO in a matter of days. Meanwhile, Ned’s allies are a squirrel-exploding bard, a repurposed home security system who takes her instructions far too literally, and a wildly unreliable talking axe named Frank. But even as the inevitable conflict draws closer, change is coming to EBO.

I can’t recommend this series enough
Revisado: 11-06-22
I was just looking for something to listen to while traveling and i noticed Travis Baldree narrated this book about a man and his axe. I got completely sucked in and binged shades longer and blacks and baron over the course of my trip. These books are excellent. I love the funny dialogue between frank and Ned and the writing gives me that nostalgic feeling I have about playing mmos for the first time. It’s great, You should give it a try.

Better than the first series
Revisado: 08-24-20
I really enjoyed this book, Sins of empire really lets you see the growth in the authors skill it carry’s the same themes and feel of the previous series but everything is done better, better world building, better character development, better dialogue. If you liked the powder mage series or even if you didn’t I would give this book a try.

Historia
In The End Is Always Near, Dan Carlin looks at questions and historical events that force us to consider what sounds like fantasy; that we might suffer the same fate that all previous eras did. Will our world ever become a ruin for future archaeologists to dig up and explore? The questions themselves are both philosophical and like something out of The Twilight Zone.

Fascinating and freaky.
Revisado: 12-04-19
This book bring together many ideas from the author’s podcast, Hardcore History and mixes them together. The result is a fascinating and disturbing speculative work about the extreme situations humanity has faced in the past and how me might be forced to face similar situations in our modern time.
Dan Carlin brings all the narrative skill he uses on his podcast to bear in his reading. I would definitely recommend this audio book, especially if you like his other work.
