Historia
An electromagnetic pulse blinds the U.S. Cars crash. Planes fall. Chaos reigns. Power is restored within minutes, but it’s already too late. Russian nukes are falling. U.S. allies around the world are already wiped out. The United States will cease to exist inside of five minutes. After giving the order to launch a full-scale retaliation–dooming the planet–the president, his staff, Secret Service and those lucky enough to be visiting the White House, are whisked below ground, where they board several Earth Escape Pods. As the EEPs launch into Earth orbit, missiles descend.

I'm sorry (that I wasted my time reading this)
Revisado: 07-17-24
The author has teased at it in other books, but just dived right into the deep end of evangelical nonsense with this 10hr cringefest. If you fantasize about the end times & are convinced that of billions of people & hundreds if not thousands of religions that only you & your religion have it right & that all others should suffer endlessly just like they taught you in Sunday school, then boy do I have a recommendation for you. Also, you'll probably enjoy this book. There isnt even a twist ending, just a totally predictable continuing of the same old boring tropes, Nothing new here at all, and really the last half of the book could have been one page or less with no loss of story. I however would like a refund, since I can't reclaim my time for sitting through this unwaveringly sick prostlization. He talked a grand scheme & had some decent titles early on but I couldn't be more disappointed & don't think I will trust this author with any more of my time or attention. I'm sure certain folks will love it, so good luck with them, I'm out.

Historia
New York Times and number one Audible.com best-selling author Jeremy Robinson takes listeners on a journey that is not only action-packed, but full of scientific and philosophical intrigue. In his most mind-bending story since Infinite and Alter, Robinson blends genres, belief systems, and bold prose into an unputdownable tale exploring the nature of reality.

Weak & shallow
Revisado: 02-04-24
Author attempts to be deep & thought-provoking & seems to think he nailed it. I wouldn't call it science fiction. More of a thinly veiled attempt at religious allegory with some technical jargon thrown in so it gets labeled 'science fivtion'. No real science here, just fiction. Struggled to finish, but I did, only to be met with the author doing a self-congratulatiry victory lap as an end note. I commend anyone for writing a book, any book, but I know this author is capable of much better, and hope people gravitate towards his better works rather than waste time & a credit for this one.

Good book, terrible ending
Revisado: 05-28-23
I enjoyed the story & of course Alissa Poon is wonderfully entertaining, but the author ruined my fun with a cliffhanger ending. I hate cliffhangers. They are not entertaining; they are unnecessarily annoying. The only tension created is between me and the author, as it makes me want to not buy their books, or at the least not buy any until they come out as a combined & completed series (which may end up being how I finish this series). If you made it this far the story has gotten much better i.e. more complex as factions & intrigue are revealed. If you enjoy cliffhangers & this genre it's definitely worth a listen.

Historia
Billy the Barbarian is an Isekai adventure story about a normal man from our Earth whose destiny changes when he gets snatched up by the gods of a magical world. He then wakes up to find himself in a strange, cruel land known as Thune to the locals. It turns out the gods of Thune have pretty big plans for Billy, and before he knows it, he's swept up into an adventure the likes of which you've never seen before.

Ok for genre
Revisado: 04-17-23
So this has moments where it's lots of fun, and the narrators aren't bad. And this for me is an uncharacteristically critical review. That being said the male narrator is terrible at the disaffected teenage 'like whatever' attitude & speech of the mc. So what should be hilarious juxtaposition turns more often into awkward & cringy conversations. Very distracting & hard to listen to. Though to be clear he seems a capable narrator; this particular character was a bridge too far. He was fine with all other male characters. The female narrator has enthusiastic delivery so she is fun to listen to if you can ignore the near constant mispronunciations of words. Lots of words. And accents - both syllabic & foreign - skipping around in the wrong places. A lot. For me it's like hearing a record skip (dating myself here) each & every time, and it's equivalent to more than once per virtual page throughout story though sometimes every other sentence. Still, I found her delivery good enough that it was easier to deal with than her male counterpart's mc. Ymmv.
There were some good moments, but overall it averages out to a decent story with a bit of a stop & go pace that seems like a mad dash towards the end, like the author lost interest in story and just wanted to wrap things up while hitting the highlights.
Also the mc is monumentally stupid at times, but that is pretty much par for the course with this genre. Editor/director could have helped monumentally with narration. I probably would have bailed on the original books before finishing but worth it for me as a light listen in omnibus form.

Depends
Revisado: 02-15-23
Do you like crude humor, violence with sticky gore descriptions, & media references with your sword & sorcery tales? Do you enjoy authors who don't take themselves too seriously? Same with narrators? YES, me too, and have we got a winner right here, ding-ding-ding! Please, take my credits & give me more Maulkin & crew brought to life by the one & only Luke. He really has earned a one name title at this point right? Like Madonna, only with less Dennis Rodman. Aaanyhoo, I hope you all enjoy these as much as I am as I re-read in preparation for the latest release in this series.

So much fun!
Revisado: 02-10-23
Excellent addition to & progression of this intriguing series. I've learned to look forward to how authors can take an obvious premise & craft an interesting & inventive story around it, creating not so much something entirely new but with a fresh enough perspective that the storytelling on display is icing on an already delicious cake. Needless to say the acting is superb & takes things over the top into must read territory, as Soundbooth Theater so often does. Seriously SBT are always worth a listen even if the genre isn't a familiar or favorite one. Thanks to all involved for providing me these wonderful breaks between & after work. Now about that next book...;-)
No, seriously I need the next release to happen! How important is sleep really?

Sublimely Outstanding or Outstandingly Sublime
Revisado: 12-10-22
Some of these Divine Dungeon stories have felt, to me, a bit wordy & overproud of themselves, while still remaining entertaining & fun to listen - especially with the excellent narration. This volume I believe achieves the intention of sharing subtle truths & insight through story; that or I'm just in the right mood to hear them. Either way I am really enjoying myself to the point I had to stop & share before life drags me away. The last Tribulation in particular was moving, touching on sameness & uniqueness & how it doesn't really matter, simple yet profound, related through the eyes of children & the act of understanding & accepting them. Beautifully written & artfully conveyed. Or I'm just in a mood. This was just one short moment in a chapter, but there are many of these moments sprinkled throughout. You can read & decide for yourself, but for me this is easily my favorite in the series. We also get to peek in on Dale's situation, which of course is a nice reminder of what originally brought us all together in this adventure. Highly recommended if you enjoy the series, though so much more satisfying & easier to follow if you've read the Divine Dungeon stories prior to find out how Arturean, Dale & Cal got here in the first place.

Historia
Rockland is reeling from the loss of his family. All he found of them were missing limbs after the battle for New York, where the heavyweights of Empire and the Mechanolords fought. Only dangerous combat and bear wrestling were able to take his mind off the tragedy, but for a Chimera Knight those battles turned into new Territories across the massive, now borderless, country once called Canada.

If you enjoy this genre and/or Luke Daniels then this is a must have series. Interesting premise, good character development (!), system fleshing our nicely, lots of potential for story arcs moving forward. Really well done and beyond what I expected when I picked up the first book.
