Couldn't wait for the next season of "The Tower" ( which is based off this series) so was happy to find this! Just as gripping as the t.v version and fabulous narration!

Another author that put out great work with first novels but now leaves you scratching your head as to what happened. Simone St James is another.

I often wonder if the author or producers actually listen to certain audiobook performances? This one is so awful it's almost laughable. The story wasn't compelling enough to make me continue on.

I did stick it out to the end because I kept hoping things would get interesting, so there's that. I'm sorry, this was dull ,sappy, & overly descriptive about the most mundane things. I can't tell you how many times her "heart stopped" or "stomach clenched" and I don't care for the narrator, who sounded smarmy throughout. The premise had potential, but was not well executed.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It had the makings of a good ghost story. I'm still trying to figure out why it didn't grab me and pull me in. I nearly gave up about halfway through because I was so bored, but it did get a bit better.

What did you like best about this story?

The premise was intriguing.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Rebecca Lowman?

Anyone. I don't know why so many American narrators have to sound like a snarky, angsty teenager. (Sorry for being politically incorrect, but especially women narrators) I think perhaps this might have been a big reason why I wasn't fond of this listen. With another narrator, it might have been more enjoyable. Yes, I realize a few of the characters "were" teenagers, but it seemed like she never changed her tone no matter who she was narrating.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not at all.

Any additional comments?

Overall disappointing. I was looking forward to another Simone St James book, but the past couple works of hers have fallen flat for me.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would! It was a great story if you can get past the wonky narration.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I wouldn't say on the edge of my seat ( not that kind of book) but wanting to keep listening as long as I could.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Oddly, Ms. Turpin's narration was outstanding. Ms Infantino's made you wonder if the producers actually listened to the finished product before they released it.

Any additional comments?

I would actually have given this 5 stars if not for the disparity in narration. Thankfully, it was only for half the book, otherwise it would probably be difficult to listen to any of it.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Well, I kept listening because I wanted to see what happened, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Since I am from Michigan, references to my home state were the most interesting. (Albeit the character from "Grosse Point" who was a rich and evil jerk was a little over the top) The book definitely had an interesting premise, the execution of it didn't quite come together.

What does Jeff Hays bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He was a great narrator. The only minuses were that although set in Michigan, one man had a sort of East Coast accent and one had a southern one. I guess I can understand that he wanted to differentiate the characters, but it didn't really flow with my midwestern upbringing, especially in a small town.

Could you see The Eaton being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I could see it being made into such genre.

Any additional comments?

The violence was just a little too graphic for me and while I can tolerate ghosts as fantasy element, monsters are not my thing. :) I don't think the ending was credible either.

these are incredible books. the stories are clever. the humor is great. and they have an incredible British charm as well. I personally love these books huge amounts more than the movies. if like the movies, try and read the books that began it. also, David Tennant is amazing in the audiobooks
