The story is well known now that movies have been made. However, there is so much more in the book as most people know by now. Rob Inglis brings this classic to life in a much fuller way by doing every voice so wonderfully it is like a full cast but without the distraction of multiple actors. He even sings the songs! Download this for the entire family to enjoy.

I really enjoyed this book for so many reasons. It's a mystery but so much more. The exploration of parent/child relationships and the secrets and mistakes made on both sides of those interactions are treated so generously that a reader should come away a better person. There's a warning for parents to think carefully about how they handle their children and their fears.
Thank you Kate Morton for all the literary references throughout. I have added dozens of titles to my list of "must reads." The interwoven references and the various characters' sharing their love of books was thrilling and evoked a kinship with the characters (some anyway) that endeared them to me.

The combination of the writing and narration is so stimulating that I often had to pause it so I could consider what I just heard. I enjoyed the general sweep of the history and discovered some poetry not previously on my radar.
