May 1875: Mary Todd Lincoln is addicted to opiates and tried in a Chicago court on charges of insanity. Entered into evidence is Ms. Lincoln’s claim that every night a Savage Indian enters her bedroom and slashes her face and scalp. She is swiftly committed to Bellevue Place Sanitarium. Her hauntings may be a reminder that in 1862, President Lincoln ordered the hanging of 38 Dakotas in the largest mass execution in United States history. No one has ever linked the two events - until now.

Ugh...
Revisado: 05-18-24
This was excruciating and not in a good way. The poor narrators/performers. This was a really interesting topic for a book or story, but the method of delivery and the "script" was disjointed, incomprehensible, and flat out annoying. Pity...it had such potential, but...ugh...a waste of time and credits.

Historia
Western folklore and mythology are rife with brilliantly creative, fulfilled, feisty, and furious role models for aging women, despite our culture's focus on youthfulness. In her exciting new book, mythologist and psychologist Sharon Blackie explores these archetypes, presenting them in a way sure to appeal to contemporary women. Drawing inspiration from these examples, women can reclaim midlife as a liberating, alchemical moment rich with possibility and their elder years as a path to dynamic power.

Revisado: 08-22-23
The author's soft calm voice was perfect for the narration, easy and soothing to listen to. The ideas, stories, imagery, and inspirations were colorful, poignant, rich, and just what I needed as I embark upon my next journey to the last part of my life. I am grateful.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

All these stories in this series are cunningly relevant for women (or anyone) today. The author is as brilliant a thinker as Sherlock herself. The narration is evocative perfection. I binged them all. Delightful!

Enjoyable and SO Important.

I love listening to inspired, brilliant problem-solving people put their minds on important topics. They convey such expertise and such normal humanity. Makes me want to linger around the dinner table long after the meal, half-finished glasses of wine and the candles burning low, while respectful, funny, and wicked-smart minds explore and debate topics important to all of us.
