quite entertaining but way too short

This should be half a book. Seems like the author is stretching it out.
Technical research could be better.
Story was a lot of fun.

This was fun, but way too short to call it a book. Nevertheless, I'm glad I listened to the story. It's good. It is innovative.

More history than fiction
Revisado: 08-17-16
What would have made Quicksilver better?
A storyline. This book is just a bunch of characters discussing history for the sake of proving they're educated.
What was most disappointing about Neal Stephenson’s story?
Neal is a great writer. I wish he'd written a story instead of a history book.

In Vanishing Acts she has gathered together an extraordinary group of stories, including a long novella by Ted Chiang, that cohere around the idea of endangered species, in some cases interpreted to include the human race.

depressing drivel no way to get a refund?
Revisado: 08-11-15
wish I could only pay for the first 20 minutes because I couldn't get pay that. This starts out with a history of writers I never heard of and moves into a very depressing novel of death and suicide. I'm done.

Historia
Five thousand years ago, the Kinley built a ship capable of traveling faster than light. It carried a group of scientists to a small, distant planet - a primitive place called Earth. Its mission was peaceful observation. But when the ship was destroyed, the Kinley crew found themselves stranded in ancient Egypt, participants in the pageant of life in the time of the Pharaohs. They buried remnants of their technology deep beneath the desert and sent a last desperate message home…. Five thousand years later, the Kinley homeworld hovers on the brink of extinction.

It's very hard to work with someone who tried to murder me. But when the mysterious senator reappears on the scene, I'm desperate enough to take whatever help I can get, even if it is from Cormac. Dealing with him is nothing compared to losing a few hundred lives and that's the best case scenario. Worst case? I lose them all.

Too short but very good.
Revisado: 06-02-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Keepers & Killers to be better than the print version?
I didn't read the print version
What did you like best about this story?
Innovative
Which character – as performed by Laurel Schroeder – was your favorite?
The heroine is pretty bad-a$$.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It's easy to do with such a short book.
Any additional comments?
All three books could be sold as one book. Most sci-fi books are about 15 hours long; that would have been more satisfying. It's very expensive otherwise. I'll pay more attention in the future about the length of the books.

Historia
In the sixth decade of the 21st century, Earth has been transformed. Nanotechnology has been perfected, giving humans the ability to change their environment and themselves down to the cellular level. And the study of the mind has brought a revolution in human psychotherapy and artificial intelligence. It's a sane and perfect world. Almost.

I expected a novel, not short stories
Revisado: 06-02-14
Would you try another book from Greg Bear and/or Christine Williams?
Yes, Greg Bear is a good writer.
Would you ever listen to anything by Greg Bear again?
Yes.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Christine Williams?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
I wish you would separate sci-fi and fantasy. They may be the same for someone who doesn't care for either but fans usually specialize on one or the other.
The publishers summary didn't say this book is a collection of short stories. I would like to be able to search on trilogies (or series) because it provides an opportunity for the author to develop more depth of character and settings.
The audible.com search engine can be approved.
Also, when finishing a book in a series, provide a button to purchase the next book of the series. It's a task to find if there is a next book, if you have it, buy it, ... and this could be an automated process to potentially make things easier for readers and increase sales for audible.
