Historia
A mummified corpse, over half a century old, is found in the cellar of an abandoned building in a remote New Mexico ghost town. Corrie Swanson is assigned what seems to her a throwaway case: to ID the body and determine cause of death. She brings archaeologist Nora Kelly to excavate the body and lend her expertise to the investigation, and together they uncover something unexpected and shocking: the deceased apparently died in agony, in a fetal position, skin coming off in sheets, with a rictus of horror frozen on his face. Hidden on the corpse lies a 16th-century Spanish gold cross.

very much like the first
Revisado: 02-19-21
The story is okay but derivative of the first book in the Corrie Swanson series. Once again her and Nora Kelly are treasure hunting in a historical sight and One again Pendergast shows up at the end to explain everything to the women.
while the story is enjoyable at times the audio performance is bad. There is no distinction between the voices of Corrie and Nora and when the are talking to each other it makes the conversation hard to follow. Pendergast's accent is the worse. Instead of southern cajun he sounds like someone trying to do a poor British accent. All in all I think you will enjoy th9s more if you read it rather than listen to it.

Historia
In an alternate future where the British empire never crumbled, the spaceships of Her Majesty’s Navy work to keep the spaceways safe. But there are those among the stars who are not so happy being subjects of the British Empire. In the Tau Ceti system, a cauldron of trouble brews as a terrorist faction of the rebellious Sons of Arnold attacks the empire from within, and warships of the theocratic Caliphate enter the system, prepared to do their worse to destroy the hated empire head-on.

not his best
Revisado: 08-20-19
I like Steve White's other books but this on is not very good. it is like a James bond novel from the 60s with all the bad stereotypes and thin characters. the villains are mustache twirlers and the one female character has all the depth of an early bond girl.
