Historia
In the summer of 1862, a group of young artists led by the passionate and talented Edward Radcliffe descends upon Birchwood Manor in rural Oxfordshire. Their plan: to spend a secluded summer month in a haze of inspiration and creativity. But by the time their stay is over, one woman has been shot dead while another has disappeared; a priceless heirloom is missing; and Edward Radcliffe’s life is in ruins. Over 150 years later, Elodie Winslow, a young archivist in London, uncovers a leather satchel containing two seemingly unrelated items.

Good book…confusing end
Revisado: 03-26-24
I enjoyed this book, however, with the storylines jumping around so much, I was really confused. Some storylines were tied up with a bow and others still dangle unfinished. I’d like to have less time-jumping, although I see why the author did it. It just seems excessive.

Historia
In the autumn of 1707, old enemies from the Scottish Highlands to the Borderlands are finding common ground as they join to protest the new Union with England. An invasion is imminent as many plot to bring the exiled young Jacobite king back to Scotland to reclaim his throne, and in Edinburgh, the streets are filled with discontent and danger. Queen Anne, seeking to calm the situation, has sent money up from London for Scots who took part eight years earlier in the ill-fated Darien expedition that left Scotland all but bankrupt.

Loved the story…not the narration
Revisado: 02-09-24
I’m wasn’t used to SK writing from a man’s perspective, but I was pleasantly surprised! She wrote really well from both perspectives in this book. There’s a little twist at the end and it was very pleasant! However, the narration was awful. He spoke way too slowly…even though I sped it up, it was still too slow and started to sound bizarre. Also he mispronounced Don Quixote the ENTIRE TIME, and it drove me bonkers. Overall I enjoyed the book once I learned to listen past the narration.

Great read!
Revisado: 02-09-24
I really enjoyed this book! This should be part of the Slains group because it ties in nicely with some of the other story lines. The narration on this was good and her accents are great, but her level of excitement during some intense scenes really distracted me. I’m sure that’s just a personal preference. Overall an enjoyable read!

Historia
History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

Revisado: 01-25-24
I loved everything about this book! Great story and great narration! I enjoy Susanna’s writing style so much! She doesn’t over-use words or and her descriptions are not long and drawn out. She has written a lovely and satisfying story.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Excellent book…same excellent narration!
Revisado: 11-15-23
The continued building excitement is refreshing in comparison to the slog of books 7-10. We have finally gotten past the perspective of random, unimportant characters. World-building is important, but action and story advancement are necessary to keep readers’ attention, and re-starting with book 11, we are finally getting that!
As far as book 13 goes, the lack of communication between people on this world is still baffling. There is also an odd timeline situation with Tam where it seems he is in 2 places at once. Maybe it’s more clear in the book is just confusing on audiobook.
As far as narration…Reading and Kramer are excellent as always! Kate Reading is by far my favorite narrator! They are pretty consistent with their accents and it makes it really easy to follow.

Great Overall Story
Revisado: 05-26-23
If you are reading the Terminalist series, this book ties up a lot of loose ends. It was action-packed and exciting from the beginning and Ray Porter’s narration is as excellent as ever! However…I struggled with the stabbing scenes and the never-ending political conspiracy theories. I loved this series for the personal mission James was on, but now it seems like he’s just another cog in the CIA machine.

Great Perspective!
Revisado: 10-10-22
If you can put aside your feelings on a fairly simple story, you will find a deeper and extremely touching story of how a simple conversation can change someone's perspective. This book is cheesy...the dialogue is unrealistic and it's predictable, however the deeper meaning is important to each and every one of us!

Revisado: 08-09-22
This was the most exciting book yet! I still have a hard time with Ray Porter’s female voices…specifically Katie Buranek. The inflections drive me crazy, but the story is so riveting that I almost don’t notice most of the time.

Not my Favorite but Necessary Bridge
Revisado: 07-25-22
This is not my favorite of the books… There’s a lot of scenes that felt like they dragged on and it was hard to stay focused and attentive on the story with all of the intense historical stuff. However I do understand that and series like the there has to be a bridge book and does serves its purpose well. You have to read it in order for the story to make sense. As far as narration… I have been very impressed with narration up to this point, but the change in the female narrator was not a positive change in my opinion. She has a cadence that is really difficult for me to except and I wish that they could’ve continued with the same female narrator. As with the other books I did enjoy the narration in duet.
