A new series that fills a niche for strong female lead without profanity but plenty of swashbuckling adventure. Imagine Honor in the sailing ships of the Napoleonic wars but with technology and faster-than-light.

it was a pleasure to have a story without a constant stream of f-bombs or graphic sex. One that I can wholeheartedly recommend to others without fear of embarrassment.

The characters have their flaws, they make mistakes, and are easily relateable. The narration is superb with distinct and consistent voices, including the females. The plot line is a growth from hardscrabble blue-collar youth to enterprising and adventurous young men and women.

Sequences were not apparent in audio version. I presume they were better delineated or titled in the print version.

A different take on the dimensional storm transporting soldiers into the past or different worlds. It has the feel of a good 12 hour story that the editor insisted the author expand to 22 hours.
The narrator is superb, equally handling genders, ages, and multiple accents remarkably well.

Original concept. Well paced enough to hold your interest without getting bogged down in technical minutiae. A lack of profanity or descriptive sexual activities meant that we could all listen to the story together on a road trip without having to keep one finger poised over the pause icon. Enough technology to build the atmosphere. An excellent read.

I read the second of this series in hope that the protagonist would mature and learn to lead through team-building and encouragement of his crew. Nope, he is still the same petty tyrannical immature jerk that he was in the first novel. I will not bother reading further, even though the oremise is original, and the writing excellent.

A good, although well anticipated wrap to the Prince Roger series. Still worth the read. I recommend you keep a scorecard of the admirals, ship captains, and ship names to keep up with the battle at the end. (Oops, did I give something away?)

Hiassen with lots more profanity

Written in a style reminiscent of Carl Hiassen, but with lots and lots more profanity. It could have been a very good novel with an original premise - dragon living in the Louisiana bayou - good humor, lots of plot twists, and flawed characters. Unfortunately, the author filled the story with unnecessary profanity. Kind of like finding large chunks of bone in your breakfast sausage. Does nothing to add to the flavor, and detracts from the enjoyment.
