Historia
It’s autumn in the town of Harrow, but something besides the season is changing there. Because in that town there is an orchard, and in that orchard, seven most unusual trees. And from those trees grows a new sort of apple: strange, beautiful, with skin so red it’s nearly black. Take a bite of one of these apples, and you will desire only to devour another. And another. You will become stronger. More vital. More yourself, you will believe. But then your appetite for the apples and their peculiar gifts will keep growing—and become darker.

I needed to listen to this book. I had dreams about how the story would progress. My dreams didn’t come close to the book’s story. It’s one of the very best supernatural I have ever read in my 60+ years of reading this genre.

Agatha Christie - always a great "read"!
Revisado: 03-05-12
Have you listened to any of David Suchet???s other performances before? How does this one compare?
While I haven't listened to any other David Suchet vocal performances, listening to him as Hercule Poirot is nearly as good as watching him on television. He does all the other character's voices so well you might think that more than one performer is reading the book.
Any additional comments?
I have been reading Agatha Christie books since grade school. This was my first Christie audio book, and I will be purchasing more, especially those read by Mr. Suchet.

Historia
It's a sad and eerie harbinger of our times that the Oprah-watching, crystal-rubbing, Whole Foods-shopping moms and their whipped attorney husbands have taken the ability to reason away from the poor schlub who makes the Bloody Marys. What we used to settle with common sense or a fist, we now settle with hand sanitizer and lawyers. Adam Carolla has had enough of this insanity and he's here to help us get our collective balls back.

Very strong language but has good points & laughs
Revisado: 02-27-12
This book wasn???t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Those who don't mind very strong language will enjoy this audible book, especially real guys.
Have you listened to any of Adam Carolla???s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I hadn't heard of Adam Carolla until recently when I heard him interviewed on a radio show. I decided to give this a try because I did get some laughs during the interview.
You didn???t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I agree with many of his points and enjoy the ranting. I also enjoy Mr. Carolla's reading his own work, except for the language; his voice is well-suited to rants.
Any additional comments?
I don't like the very strong language used. Other words could be substituted to get the message across just as forcefully. That being said, I still listened to the entire book because I liked the subject, got some laughs and enjoyed his voice.

Historia
In this book, which the author calls a "culmination of 30 years of work in the history of ideas", Sowell attempts to explain the ideological difference between liberals and conservatives as a disagreement over the moral potential inherent in nature. Those who see that potential as limited prefer to constrain governmental authority, he argues. They feel that reform is difficult and often dangerous, and put their faith in family, custom, law, and traditional institutions.

Thought provoking
Revisado: 01-09-12
Thomas Sowell's writings are always intelligent and thought provoking. His grasp of economics surpasses all other current authors on this topic, and his understanding of current society comes from his understanding of history and human nature. His books are never boring even when discussing economics.
That said, "A Conflict of Visions" isn't about right or left; just as there are big-government Democrats, there are big government Republicans. This book is about the constrained and unconstrained visions of how the world works.
Listen to it, and you may just gain some insights into yourself.

Revisado: 11-16-11
If you could sum up Shadow Chaser in three words, what would they be?
Mesmerizing, fantastic, spellbinding

What about MacLeod Andrews???s performance did you like?
The voices he uses for the different characters. They are consistent and added greatly to my listening experience.
Any additional comments?
Book 3 won't be out until April 2012! I'll be on tenterhooks until then to find out how the story ends.
