Historia
In this revolutionary book, renowned physician Gabor Maté eloquently dissects how in Western countries that pride themselves on their healthcare systems, chronic illness and general ill health are on the rise. Nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug; more than half take two. In Canada, every fifth person has high blood pressure. In Europe, hypertension is diagnosed in more than 30 percent of the population. And everywhere, adolescent mental illness is on the rise. So what is really “normal” when it comes to health?

some science mixed with a liberal's world view
Revisado: 12-16-22
I am always disappointed when an author's political views or worldview creeps in and taints the message. there is a balance between the pull yourself up by your bootstraps and the "I'm a victim" mindset, this book overly embarrasses victimhood. There are some great points and science in the book that are helpful and interesting, it is his conclusions had me yelling at my radio by chapter 9 and stopping listening at chapter 11 because it got too ridiculous.

Historia
Chris Harman describes the shape and course of human history as a narrative of ordinary people forming and re-forming complex societies in pursuit of common human goals. Interacting with the forces of technological change as well as the impact of powerful individuals and revolutionary ideas, these societies have engendered events familiar to every schoolchild-from the empires of antiquity to the world wars of the 20th century. In a bravura conclusion, Chris Harman exposes the reductive complacency of contemporary capitalism.

good ideas, but ..
Revisado: 07-18-19
great ideas on how to take a close look at your SOP. I found it disrespectful to the value of tradition. there are real reason some things are done, they should be reevaluated regularly but you don't just say blow them up. leadership is about getting others to do what you ask, poking them with a stick is not how you do that.

where is the Beef?
Revisado: 05-17-19
Very interesting stories, he does a great job of selling the need for a checklist. As it turns out, that was the books only goal. I kept waiting for the "beef" of how to make a good checklist, it never came. I found myself saying, ok already i'm sold, how do I do it?

Arguably the bravest, most efficient, physically fit, and tight-knit group of soldiers the Army has ever produced, the unit was called upon for every high-risk operation of the war, including D-Day, Operation Market Garden in Holland, the Battle of the Bulge, and the capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden.
