Historia
In this stirring audiobook, David McCullough tells the intensely human story of those who marched with General George Washington in the year of the Declaration of Independence, when the whole American cause was riding on their success, without which all hope for independence would have been dashed and the noble ideals of the Declaration would have amounted to little more than words on paper.

A bit too long...get abridged
Revisado: 12-11-13
If you could sum up 1776 in three words, what would they be?
Struggle persistence victory
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Beginning of the revolution
Any additional comments?
This is strictly on the year 1776 and Washington being the general of the American army. I thought there would be more about the drafting of the constitution but instead it followed the struggles of Washington and his unorganized militia army. But through it all the militia gets a couple victories and some significant defeats. But after each defeated battle, General Washington shows through persistence and intellect, the revolutionaries can get a couple of victories.

Historia
Goodwin describes the broken friendship between Teddy Roosevelt and his chosen successor, William Howard Taft. With the help of the "muckraking" press, Roosevelt had wielded the Bully Pulpit to challenge and triumph over abusive monopolies, political bosses, and corrupting money brokers. Roosevelt led a revolution that he bequeathed to Taft only to see it compromised as Taft surrendered to money men and big business. The rupture led Roosevelt to run against Taft for president, an ultimately futile race that gave power away to the Democrats.

Historia
Recent years have seen an explosion of interest in and interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. Its authority and stature are routinely invoked by voices from every point on the political spectrum, with frequent references to the Founding Fathers and their true "intent." What really was their true intent? As these 12 surprising lectures show, many of those Founding Fathers-including Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry-were highly critical of the new Constitution and staunchly opposed it when it was first put forth for ratification by the states as a replacement for the Articles of Confederation.

Great comparison of federalist and anti-federalist
Revisado: 12-11-13
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
The lecture is a great break down between the federalist papers and the anti-federalist papers. Explains why the confederation was a bad idea because of lack of central power.
