The Man of Twists and Turns is an exciting look into the world of Nathal. The author’s skill of creating such sympathetic characters and a story world in which one wants to fully immerse themselves within is phenomenal. Immediately, you are hooked as the story opens with the pirate king seeking a siren. As the story develops, it becomes evident the pirate king, the main character, is not what he appears to be nor what he lets many believe. There’s layers and depth that is often difficult to achieve in shorter stories, but Anne J. Hill does this well, with the narrator skillfully bringing it all to life. There is a clear beginning, middle, and end but I did find myself craving more—looking forward to reading more set in this world and the author’s novel release when it is ready!

Vivid includes a colorful cast in this character-driven narrative with a unique magic system centered on primary colors. There’s a mysterious air in regard to figuring out who can and cannot be trusted that fans of “who done it” stories/political corruption tales will enjoy. There is a secondary romance thread with a shadow of a love triangle but the romance is not the story focus. Looking forward to book 2 which I suspect will be more plot/action oriented!

With a focus on the depth and power of God’s love as illustrated by John 3:16, this study provides a wonderful examination of every 16 verse of chapter 3 in each book in the Bible. It is thought provoking and the author does a wonderful job analyzing each verse within biblical and historical context. A great book to include in daily personal time with the Lord or to read and discuss with a buddy or group. Highly recommend!
