I picked this title up on a whim, and was wary when I saw the narrator was the author. The two are such different sets of skills and talents that I was sure Luke Arnold would fail on one of them. I was wrong. This is a great story with fascinating world-building and a main character you can't help but sympathize with, and Mr. Arnold gave a top-notch performance of his story. I sincerely hope there's more coming soon.

Others have said it, no need to elaborate. Bronson Pinchot, while certainly a good narrator, does not do a good job with this title. Macleod Andrews was terrific. I'm returning this and will buy the Kindle edition. Unless the previous narrator returns, that's also how I'll get future additions to this wonderful series.

Give Simon Prebble a try!

Don't be put off by reviewers who bemoan the loss of Christian Rodska, who did the narration of the first book of the series. While Mr. Rodska's performance is not to be missed, Simon Prebble is an able and worthy successor. His performance is more subtle, but nevertheless powerful, and I think he's a better fit for Marcus Didius' wry, sardonic voice.

A masterful performance by Luke Daniels, as usual. And, a very good story. However, the author makes huge errors in sentence structure, and phrases misplaced from their antecedent, incorrect case after verbs and prepositions, mixed verb tenses and incorrect preposition choices abound. Mr. Chmilenko badly needed a decent editor's help. If such things don't bother you, by all means try this - the story is engaging, and Mr. Daniels never disappoints. If such things do bother you, you're probably better off giving this one a miss.
