First, I couldn’t stand the male narrator. So much so that I can’t decide if my dislike of the storyline is just because of him or if the story was actually just “eh” in my mind too. I did enjoy the female narrator and most of her part of the storyline.

I DNF’d this book pretty quick, like the 3rd chapter in. I purchased it after getting the same Facebook ad over and over, it sounded interesting, looked it up on Audible, and bought it. HOWEVER the description in Audible and the ad on Facebook never mentioned it was a step brother romance… which is not my thing. I’m not here to yuck someone else’s yum, it’s just not for me, so I returned the title. Only left a review incase it helps someone else in the future.

Have you ever hated the main character?

This is the first time I have hated the main character in a book. I almost quit listening at 30 minutes into it, but for some reason I kept giving it a try, and I hoped the girl would GROW UP and quit being so selfish. I found myself yelling back at the book when she would do something stupid, and is the guy stupid? Or desperate? I would have dropped her like a hot potato and moved on, and he had many chances. I really do NOT recommend this book for someone that is looking for a romantic love story, it will just irritate you. Also, what in the world era is this supposed to be set in? The early 90's? How they do things, like writing letters and calling "long distance" made me think so... but the verbage used made it feel a lot older than that. Half the time she sounded like she was a duchess talking and wouldn't stand for anything "used". I want a redo, can we get the same man in another book with a more deserving woman? I thought he was fantastic! Any woman would want such a caring man for herself!

UPDATE: I did find out the book was published in 1985, so the book reflects that. But I am still not happy about the two main women talking like they are in the English court!
