Historia
Victor Mancini, a medical school dropout, is an antihero for our deranged times. Needing to pay elder care for his mother, Victor has devised an ingenious scam: He pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be “saved” by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor’s life, go on to send checks to support him.

Some of his best work.
Revisado: 12-09-21
Chuck never disappoints. It’s as profane and disturbing as any of his work. If you go into a book by him expecting to feel better about life, read something else, if you want truth. You’re in the right place.

Historia
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family."

A must read
Revisado: 10-04-21
Few books sum up the disarray and disaster of our modern society so well that they seem less prophetic as they did upon release and more so not so far off nonfiction. Who needs books? I’ll wait for the movie to come out. Ban books for daring to insult the wrong people? If it pleases those who were oppressed… the slippery slope of censorship leads to this dystopia and inevitable destruction so well described by Bradbury. Phenomenal book and the narrator does a wonderful job of capturing the character voices.

Historia
“Long live the King” hailed Entertainment Weekly upon publication of Stephen King’s On Writing. Part memoir, part master class by one of the bestselling authors of all time, this superb volume is a revealing and practical view of the writer’s craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. King’s advice is grounded in his vivid memories from childhood through his emergence as a writer, from his struggling early career to his widely reported, near-fatal accident in 1999—and how the inextricable link between writing and living spurred his recovery.

Historia
Here is the private and most intimate correspondence of one of America's most influential and incisive journalists - Hunter S.Thompson. In letters to a who's who of luminaries, from Norman Mailer toCharles Kuralt, Tom Wolfe to Lyndon Johnson, William Styron to Joan Baez - not to mention his mother, the NRA, and a chain of newspaper editors - Thompson vividly catches the tenor of the times in 1960s America and channels it all through hisown razor-sharp perspective.

Excellent overall look into the mind and early days of Hunter. It’s an excellent personal look into how he reacted to various events in both his life and otherwise.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author and acclaimed Gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson is known for such groundbreaking works as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. A provocative collection of rants and reflections from Thompson’s columns at ESPN.com, Hey Rube offers outrageously brilliant insight on topics ranging from the 2000 election to his unconventional take on professional sports (“eliminate the pitcher” to improve Major League Baseball).

Thompson at his best
Revisado: 02-13-21
Having been born in 97’ it’s hard at times to relate to certain aspects of his work. Yet this is one that I’ll remember forever because everyone mentioned in it affected my life and in some cases still does. Great book and a great look into early 2000’s America from the last great Gonzo American author.

Historia
Labeled variously a realistic story of whaling, a romance of unusual adventure and eccentric characters, a symbolic allegory, and a drama of heroic conflict, Moby Dick is first and foremost a great story. It has both the humor and poignancy of a simple sea ballad, as well as the depth and universality of a grand odyssey.

It’s a great read. Bit long winded and the facts about wales are mostly outdated. The story, however, is amazing.

Historia
This enormously eccentric book takes listeners on a crazy journey with renowned gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson. The Curse of Lono is to Hawaii what Fear and Loathing was to Las Vegas: the crazy tales of a journalist's "coverage" of a news event that ends up being a wild ride to the dark side of Americana. Originally published in 1983, The Curse of Lono features all of the zany, hallucinogenic wordplay for which Hunter S.Thompson became known and loved.

Historia
The shift toward automation is about to create a tsunami of unemployment. Not in the distant future - now. One recent estimate predicts 13 million American workers will lose their jobs within the next seven years - jobs that won't be replaced. In a future marked by restlessness and chronic unemployment, what will happen to American society? In The War on Normal People, Andrew Yang paints a dire portrait of the American economy. Rapidly advancing technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation software are making millions of Americans' livelihoods irrelevant.

Sometimes being the smartest person in a room gets you ignored... until it’s too late. Had coronavirus happened months sooner, there’s not a doubt in my mind he’d be getting sworn in right now instead of that corporate stooge and corpse they propped up instead. This book is what every American must read before 2024.
