Great and Entertaining
Revisado: 08-08-24
Stellar and entertaining light litrpg adventure. This story hit a tone of deadpan and snarky humor but also had heart. The writing is solid with some memorable flairs such as the repeated alliteration, puns, and naming conventions. The characters are unique but feel like they fit in the world that was created. The story? It covers a journey of progression that feels relatable and a main character whose not always the most confident in what she's doing.
The narration sells all of the above. The narrator enhances every facet of the story.
Highly recommended.

A Solid Short Collection Of Horror Stories
Revisado: 07-19-23
In this collection the stories are super varied but each are as solid as the other and the narrator has an old timey story telling quality about him. Definitely recommended.

Well Performed but a little lacking
Revisado: 02-14-23
This story is full of potential in terms of the universe that the author creates and at some points it seems to reach that, but for the rest of the time it falls kinda short.
The characters are ok, the fights are ok - aside from the big one which actually got pretty good, and the banter is actually pretty entertaining between the player characters and the npcs.
It just felt like there was more that could've been done. But it's definitely not a bad journey.

Historia
Midnight. Some call it the witching hour. Others call it the devil’s hour. Here in the graveyard, midnight is a very special time. It is a time when ghostly spirits are at their strongest, when the veil between our world and theirs is at its thinnest. Legend has it, that while most of the world is asleep, the lack of prayers allow the spirits to communicate under the cover of darkness, among the headstones, their whispers rustling in the leaves of the old oak trees. But if you’re here in the graveyard, you can tell yourself it’s just the wind....

A bunch of great short stories about different things by different people that stayed interesting throughout. A few of the stories stuck with me a bit and there was one I didn't want to hear because I knew what was happening but it was well done.

Creepy Story
Revisado: 05-17-21
This was a pretty great atmospheric creepy story about a photographer hired to take pictures of an old "haunted" house and where that leads him.
The narration was alright, not great, could've stood to be a little more firm and I think the story would've benefited from that.

Great Performance of Some Weird Stories
Revisado: 01-31-21
I'd read this collection earlier on but jumped at the opportunity to listen to one of my favorite narrators and his spin on it. It's a series of stories of broken people trying just just keep getting by in worlds where things just keep getting in the way. Not much happiness in horror stories generally. There's some weirdness both on purpose and some weird characterization that took me out of some scenes a little bit, but the rest of it brought me back in for the duration. These people are haunted by the past, the present, and the future, and it's a solid read performed very well.

Historia
They live among us. Hiding in plain sight. Until now.... West London has always been known as the quieter part of the city. That's true...for a human. But in reality, the streets are home to those that rule over the supernatural world. Werewolves have their gated communities. Vampires reside within a subterranean utopia. And the magic-wielding wizards, witches, and warlocks study their arts right under the noses of general public. It has always been that way, and because of this, there has always been peace.

Entertaining Urban Fantasy
Revisado: 08-04-20
Born of the Shade is a very entertaining intro to a urban fantasy world. Story might've been a little too focused on world building than the story itself, but was still a fun listen. Narration was great, but after listening to a handful of his performances I was pretty confident of that fact going in. I'm definitely interested in seeing what happens next in this world.

Historia
Sean Doyle faced danger, death, and other things he'd rather forget during his time in the Counter Terrorist Unit. But times change, even if Doyle doesn't. He's older, but no wiser, and the world he knew has changed. Now, he finds himself working as a private security consultant in Baghdad, still a city in turmoil. His job is to protect the men working on a new rail line from terrorist attacks.

Well Narrated Horror Thriller
Revisado: 07-25-20
I'd never read or listened to a story by Hutson before, but knew he had a pretty successful run of horror novels so I Jumped on the opportunity to listen to this and was not disappointed. Sean Doyle, previously of a Counter Terrorism Unit, is older and employed as private security but when the opportunity to go back to his old life arises the temptation is too much. Things are different now however as he needs a team rather than solo as they go after a man from his past.
It's gripping, frenetic, and exciting and of course gruesome and horrific in the right places, doing a solid job of working double duty as a thriller and a horror story. And the narration provided is top notch as well bringing such a story to life and giving it voice.

Brutal and Entertaining Slasher
Revisado: 07-05-20
This story is a particularly grisly slasher story both on and off the silver screen. It stayed exciting and entertaining throughout with a lot of blood and some interesting POV style. I enjoyed the fact that the characters weren't just cut outs like they often are in slasher movies, that gave me as a listener a little more to root for.
