Enjoyable although predictable
Revisado: 12-16-19
As someone who enjoys reading and/or listening to Mysteries/Thrillers I may be somewhat of a harsh critic... I feel it is only fair to point out before writing this review.
As a novice this may be a great starter series; however, having said that, for me... the storyline was predictable and slow. It was obvious how the story would end... Another disappointment and the narration was a bit grating on my ears. This is my opinion. Someone else may love this series.

Worth a second listen
Revisado: 12-16-19
An enjoyable listen that takes one on a roller coaster ride of twists and turns leaving one to wonder what is going to happen next. The characters have depth, adding to the story instead of clouding it with too many superfluous characters to confuse the listener unnecessarily.
The narrator is pleasant throughout which is a pleasant experience and not always the best part of an audio experience-which is unfortunate.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants an interesting story with depth of characters and storyline.

I Istenend TWICE before reviewing:
Revisado: 12-24-18
Firstly, I must be fair to anyone reading and disclose that I am a huge
Jodi Picoult fan; however, I will do my best to be fair. Although, there have been many serious subjects Ms. Picult has addressed in previous novels this one resonated with me on so many different levels. It wasn't personal. Maybe it is the way each character's story is slowly told throughout the novel, or the beautiful connections people find when faced with adversity OR it was great to listen to (?)- the one before😊

Keep reading, a slow start but well worth the time.
Revisado: 09-02-18
I rather enjoyed this story, though a bit slow to start, K. L. Slater is a sneaky😀 one, and just when you begin to wonder if you should invest your precious time BAM! The real intrigue begins and so does the rollercoaster ride.
Listen, read or both BUT don’t miss out on this story.

The Girl From Home - okay
Revisado: 05-25-17
The story was just so-so. That is not to say the story was not good and that many might find it quite enjoyable. I did not. It would be unfair to give it a bad review. The book was well written and easy to listen too; however, the content did not hold my interest.

And "Wonder" I found myself doing a lot
Revisado: 02-12-17
The title of the book is brilliant. Just to set the tone of time period I read and listened to this story, my 5th grade twins were also doing the same during the day. So, it was quite poignant when one came home and said that he just did not understand how cruel some people could act towards others because of the way Auggie, the young protagonist looked. My older twin chimed in saying that it wasn't just the other kids either, some of the adults whispered too. I had a good time discussing the story with them. Another way the writer kept it interesting, the story changes characters every couple chapters which really helps one to step into the minds of not just Auggie, but his friends, family, and Julian. For reasons many wonder about, the more Auggie starts to find a place for himself, Julian becomes more antagonistic. It is a beautiful story for older children; however, teenagers and adults can enjoy the triumphs, sorrows, and joy this story offers to bring into your life. I was lucky to find a very new -at the time-add on about Julian. Well worth listening or reading. The performance was good, overall a terrific find. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good book.

Narcissistic abusers... They manipulate. They lie. They cheat. They pick fights. They gaslight to make their partners feel as though they are losing their minds. They compartmentalize their lives so that they can keep their stories and their characters straight. They seem to become whomever the situation calls for. They seem to do it with ease and a lack of conscience.

Historia
We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people, one in 25, has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in 25 everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a sociopath.

Great book whether an area of study or a layman wanting to learn more about the people around you. The formatting uses storytelling as well as definitions and statistics to explain the nuances and many different facets of a sociopath.

Good performance, easy listening, making the reader laugh out loud when funny and cry during poignant moments. Story itself was full, an unexpected plus. Would recommend this, and have, to 👭.
