Historia
The intent of this book is to present an overview of how and to what end Jung’s work developed into a coherent worldview over the course of his life. I would particularly like to give the listener a feel for Jung’s writing at the end of his life as one cogent piece. We examine each of the major books Jung wrote during his final creative phase, and will clarify the thematic threads between them, as they form a complete and singular tapestry with a solid continuity for psychology and beyond

Exceptionally clear and understandable!
Revisado: 02-19-24
Jungian Analyst J. Gary Sparks does an exceptional job of explaining and elaborating some of C. G. Jung’s most essential but challenging works. Of particular interest to me was Answer to Job and I found his discussion extremely helpful. As he explains, he sought to provide benefit to people who aren’t beginning students of Jung but also aren’t seasoned Jungian clinicians. I deeply appreciate J. Gary Sparks’s generous contribution to my understanding of Jung.

Historia
Legendary sportswriter Red Smith characterized Ben Hogan’s comeback from a near-fatal automobile crash in February 1949 as “the most remarkable feat in the history of sports.” Now, more than 60 years later, that statement still rings true. The crowning moment of Hogan’s comeback was his astonishing victory in the 1950 U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club near Philadelphia, where his battered legs could barely carry him on the 36-hole final day.

Uninspired writing and poor narration

Any additional comments?
Though reasonably well researched, this book came across like encyclopedia prose, lacking the colorfulness and emotionality of the subject matter. The narrator mispronounced so many names and places I began looking out for the next one. Both the book and the narration were uninspired. I love all things Ben Hogan and could hardly endure this book.

This is an exceptionally well organized, very clear and understandable presentation and discussion of the depth psychology aspects relating to the second half of life. And, Dr. Hollis does a very fine job presenting his information. He was a professor of the Humanities for a long while before becoming a Jungian analyst, which he has now been doing for over thirty years. His teaching background together with his extensive clinical experience working largely with older adults can be seen in the impressive presentation he provides here.I had the good fortune to do inner work with the support of several outstanding Jungian Analysts, and became relatively well read on the topics covered here. This seven hour program is a wonderful exposition of the key aspects of work one might do in analysis, as clear and informative as anything I’ve ever read. There are quite a few excellent writers in the Jungian community; Dr. Hollis is among the very best. Sometimes the terminology of depth psychology can be a hurdle, as can be some of the psychological concepts. I expect that the average, motivated individual will find this presentation very accessible. Of course, a program like this can’t substitute for working with a good analyst, but if that isn’t an option, this is a great alternative. And, even if you are or have been in Jungian analysis, you may well find this presentation beneficial to your overall understanding. I especially appreciated the effort Dr. Hollis gave to providing questions listeners can ask themselves to deepen their self awareness.
