I read/listen to a lot of thrillers. It’s a real balance to find great twists that don’t completely strain reality. This book gets it just right. Highly recommended

Great Premise - Average Execution

I wanted to love it. I loved the idea. But overall I just thought it wasn’t well developed.

The characters aren’t particularly compelling or likable. The astrological elements are not as interesting as they could have been. Suspension of disbelief is necessary for the twists. C+/B-

Both Important and Entertaining

I will listen to anything by this author and I love that she reads her own material. Her wisdom and wit shine through to highlight her exceptional storytelling. These women from history and legend deserve their time in the sun.

A thoroughly UNworthy sequel

Radically disappointing. I found myself wondering if the original author of the series actually wrote this book. In fact, I found myself wondering if the “actual” author of this book had even read the other books. That’s how off base it is.

This is not the Millie we have followed through the series. This woman is annoying and dense. Factor in the absolutely inexplicable choice of narrator - who sounds like a Long Island matron who isn’t very bright - and it’s just a mess. A long and tedious mess of uninteresting family drama.

I almost fave up on it a number of times. I stuck with it because a lot of reviews said it got better when the mystery kicked in.

It didn’t. I wish I had given up on it and spent my time in a more satisfying way.

Freida McFadden received a lot of success with this series and was no doubt under pressure to produce this one quickly. It shows. She either threw it together, or it was ghostwritten. Either way, it was almost unbelievably bad.

Beautifully Told, Magical Tale

Story and Narration Top Notch

I couldn’t stop listening to this one. I chose it initially because it was narrated by the stellar Santino Fontana, who brought Joe Goldberg to life in the “You” books. He brings that same snark to protagonist Ethan, but infused with more warmth. 5 star narration.

The mystery held me and the flirtation with the supernatural was a welcome addition. The ending surprised me, as did some of the twists along the way, but it was really satisfying. One of the best mysteries I’ve listened to in awhile!

Tedious - I gave up

I was so bored I wanted to scream. I gave it an hour before I decided my life was too short to waste on this.

Some of the voice talent is good but the reader for the main character of Jess is just dreary.

So sorry I wasted a credit on this. You used to be able to return Audible books if you gave up on them, but no longer. Too bad.

Disturbingly, Unexpectedly Violent

I thought I was going to love this book at first. But it devolves into a graphic and disturbing exploration of how humans can inflict violence on each other. I had to stop listening.

It could have been truly great but instead it was just bleak. I felt awful after listening to it.

Compulsive Listening!

Couldn’t stop listening to this one. Hooked me from the beginning and held me to the end. Well crafted, uniquely told, ultimately satisfying. I listen to a lot of this genre and this was one of my favorites so far!

Would be a great movie

It starts out a little slow and at first it was challenging to separate the three victims. But if you stay with it, their individual characters and circumstances become clearer.

The concept - victims haunting their killer and trying to bring him to justice - is compelling and I was on the edge of my seat in the last quarter of the book. I kept thinking what a great film it would be.

Overall I thought it was really well done and was glad I stayed with it
