Historia
Everyone knows everyone in the tiny town of Bourne, but the Mitchell triplets are especially beloved. Mirabel is the smartest person anyone knows, and no one doubts it just because she can’t speak. Monday is the town’s purveyor of books now that the library’s closed - tell her the book you think you want, and she’ll pull the one you actually do from the microwave or her sock drawer. Mab’s job is hardest of all: get good grades, get into college, get out of Bourne.

Beautiful Gem
Revisado: 07-08-21
This novel is another brilliant gem from the very talented Laurie Frankel. The characters get under your skin in all the best ways. Their lives, their inner worlds, and their humanity shine with the sensitive prose that is a hallmark of a Frankel story. All three narrators are fantastic, and I love the addition of the "computerized voice" in strategic places. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey through this story.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 07-07-21
The narration is terrible, but speeding it up a little helped. The content was geared toward beginners and often felt like an advertisement for other programs, but overall okay. I have seen Dr. Gallenberger in interviews and wish he had narrated this himself.

Historia
"The Raven" is a narrative poem by American writer Edgar Allan Poe. First published in January 1845, the poem is often noted for its musicality, stylized language, and supernatural atmosphere. It tells of a talking raven's mysterious visit to a distraught lover, tracing the man's slow fall into madness. The lover, often identified as being a student, is lamenting the loss of his love, Lenore. Sitting on a bust of Pallas, the raven seems to further distress the protagonist with its constant repetition of the word "Nevermore".

Painful Narration
Revisado: 11-08-19
This poem is a great classic. This narrator, however, was trying way too hard and didn't appear to grasp the meaning of the poem. He went for over the top melodrama, and it was painful to hear.

Annoying Narrator, Cute Story
Revisado: 04-21-19
The melodramatic narration is truly annoying, and the terrible, fake British accent doesn't help. The story is fun, though the author makes some strange choices near the end that seem not only out of character for the two protagonists but also illogical. Still, it's a worthy sequel.

The Melodramatic narration almost ruined this for me, but I'm glad I continued because it's a fun adventure story with engaging characters.

Historia
Nicola Marter was born with a gift. When she touches an object, she sometimes glimpses those who have owned it before. When a woman arrives with a small wooden carving at the gallery Nicola works at, she can see the object’s history and knows that it was named after the Firebird - the mythical creature from an old Russian fable. Compelled to know more, Nicola follows a young girl named Anna who leads her into the past on a quest through the glittering backdrops of the Jacobites and Russian courts, unearthing a tale of love, courage, and redemption.

Mesmerizing!
Revisado: 08-06-18
I have so many books/Audible books to read, but I'm already planning to re-read this one. Katherine Kellgren's narration is absolutely superb. I never would have "heard" all the different accents properly if I was just reading the text. The novel itself has everything I love: historical fiction, supernatural elements (without going over the top), a mystery to solve, and a touch of romance without getting sappy. This is the second book in the "Slain Castle" series, and I loved it even more than the first (which I also loved). This is well worth your listening time.

Historia
Two travelers - Rachel Katzman and Liam Finucane - arrive in a field in rural England, disheveled and weighed down with hidden money. Turned away at a nearby inn, they are forced to travel by coach all night to London. They are not what they seem but rather colleagues who have come back in time from a technologically advanced future, posing as wealthy West Indies planters - a doctor and his spinster sister. Their mission: meet, befriend, and steal from Jane Austen herself.

The Premise is Better than the Execution
Revisado: 01-29-18
This novel caters to the Jane Austen fan, and the initial premise easily draws in the willing reader. However, it's not long before you start questioning why the project managers from the future chose to send this particular team for such an important mission. We never really get an answer to that question, nor are we clued in as to why the retrieval of a lost Austen manuscript is so important to rectifying the timeline of the dystopian world from which the protagonists come. Though it was fun to witness these time travelers interact with the Austen family, at times some family members came off as caricatures, particularly Henry Austen. I feel like the ending got away from the author a little bit, but I don't want to give you too many spoilers. While I enjoyed the romp -- especially the first half of the story -- this isn't a book I will read again any time soon.

Historia
"The Holly Tree" is a warm Christmas story by Charles Dickens and a listening treat for adults during the holiday season or almost any time of year. Full of wonderful Dickensian words, phrases, and irony. The story contains a strain of great truth, and love for Americans, who Dickens depicts over-friendly but warm, kindly, generous, and warm hearted.

Terrible Audio; Cute Story

This sounds like a very old recording, and the narrator was just okay. The terrible audio was distracting from an otherwise cute story.
