Historia
Where the Truth Lies is a tour de force of sinister mystery, sly comedy, grand cuisine, and incredible sex - a sensual, sardonic, neo-Dickensian thriller in which a latter-day Alice careens through the seductive Wonderland of New York and Los Angeles in the dark heart of the 1970s.

Don't waste your money
Revisado: 01-11-25
This is a poorly abridged version that abruptly ends. No idea why the final chapters are excluded.

Historia
In the United States, teenagers can focus on one task for only sixty-five seconds at a time, and office workers average only three minutes. Like so many of us, Johann Hari was finding that constantly switching from device to device and tab to tab was a diminishing and depressing way to live. He tried all sorts of self-help solutions—even abandoning his phone for three months—but nothing seemed to work. So Hari went on an epic journey across the world to interview the leading experts on human attention—and he discovered that everything we think we know about this crisis is wrong.

PHENOMENAL

This book covered so much information in a thoughtful and compelling way. I love Hari's other books, but this book might be my favorite. I recommended it to a dozen people within minutes of completing it.

Historia
Few serial killers in history have garnered as much attention as Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer. Although Dahmer killed 17 young men and boys, it was not so much the number of people he killed that makes him stand out among famous serial killers, but more so the acts of depravity that he committed on the corpses of his victims. In this true crime story, you will listen to how Dahmer transitioned from a loner to serial killer, committing numerous unnatural acts along the way such as necrophilia and cannibalism.

This Could've Been An Article
Revisado: 06-11-24
Didn't include a great deal of insight. Rather trite phrasing at times (the discussion of Dahmer's Christian awakening in prison) made it cringey. Details the victims and upbringing just fine.

Historia
When therapist Jill Davent moved to the village of Carsely, Agatha Raisin was not a fan. Not only was this therapist romancing Agatha's ex-husband, she dug up details of Agatha's not-too-glamorous origins. Jill also counsels a woman, Gwen Simple, that Agatha firmly believes assisted her son in some grisly murders, although there is no proof. Not one to keep her feelings to herself, Agatha tells anyone who will listen that Jill is a charlatan and better off dead.

Identical Twins?
Revisado: 02-05-24
Pretty sure identical twins have to share a gender. Seems like a pretty big flaw.

Good story but horrible audiobook
Revisado: 01-12-24
The narration is so affected and difficult to endure. And the background music - horrendous. I'm enjoying the story and only sticking with it because subsequent titles have different narrators. I rarely listen to books at an increased speed because I enjoy hearing the book as intended by the narrator - but I've got this one going as fast as possible. Wonder how many people gave up on the series because they couldn't get through this book.
