I heard a lot about the main character so was worried and yes she is brusque in her manner but not as bad as I thought.
I liked it.

I liked this way more than I thought I would. I was always intimidated by the page count and listening hours but I finished pretty quickly. Great narrator!

I love this authors other series Shelby Nichols and I thought it was cool she is doing a spin off about Ella the trauma nurse that Shelby meets in the latest book from that series.
Ella has a unique gift for healing but after refusing to heal a bad guy she is sent to a small town she never knew how much it would change her life.
After accidentally hitting Creed, she helps him and ends up in more trouble than before.
I really enjoyed this even though it is very different than the other series and more of an Urban Fantasy which isn't a bad thing.
I lived the fact that Shelby, Ramos and Uncle Jcouey had a bit part in the book!!
I really liked Ella and Creed thought it felt a bit to much like instalove though by the end I think its explain well enough to make sense. They are a fun couple and I am curious to see what will happen next with this series.
I don't think you necessarily have to read the Shelby Nichols series to enjoy this spin off but you might wonder a bit who Shelby, Ramos and Uncle Joey is and I wwould recommend the other series because it's great! I also can recommend this new spin off!

I have loved the two full books in this series and "Hot" Steve was one of my favorite characters from the first book and so I was excited to read about him and Alice.
It was a short but sweet book about two people who never wanted to settle down and how their paths go different ways but they end up back together many years later.
If you like contemporary romances then you will enjoy this series even this novella! :)

Ben Porter may be living the dream, but it’s not his. His dad’s health scare might not be the ideal reason to come home for the summer, but it’s a welcome break from the stellar glitz of Ben’s life in Los Angeles. Even if modeling has him rivaling Marky Mark’s fame, posing isn’t his passion. Landing a role with a Boston Shakespeare theater brings him closer to fulfilling his dreams of being a real actor. Facing the reason he went west in the first place? That’s another story.

Though I think I liked the first book in this series more I still really enjoyed this one.
This is a second chance romance about Ben who ran off to Los Angeles after his best friend died in a car crash because he believed it was his fault and doesn’t think that Lucy, his friends sister, would be able to forgive him. Now he has come home because his dad needs him after a health scare. He is also using this time to reflect on his career because he has always had a love for the theater and being a model was not were he really seen himself.
Lucy blames herself for the death of her brother and because of that she has turned herself into a devoted daughter and makes sure her family has what it needs. She is working as the local veterinarian and didn’t even know that Ben was back in town till he brings in a dog he found that needed help. Ben was surprised to find her there as well.
This starts to bring back feelings from the past which we get when the story rewinds back 7 years when each character things back at points during the book. With those flashbacks you get to piece together what happened between them and what happened to the best friend/brother and why each thought it was their fault.
Ben gets a job in the local theater doing shakespeare and they decide to use the dog he found but he needs to be trained and Lucy gets talked into training the dog which throws Ben and Lucy together where old sparks start flying along with hurt feelings from the past.
I liked both Ben and Lucy an their story as they both have very good reasons for how they feel about what happened seven years ago, though with a bit of communication that could have probably been dealt with way back then. (but then there would be no book…lol)
I really loved the audiobook and the narrators but I have one major complaint and that is when they did the flashbacks, it sounded like a cassette being rewound and that grated on my ears! Oh it was horrible…lol. I did love the song titles for the chapters.

Ordshaw’s not like other cities. But don’t tell them you know that. Pax is one rent cheque and six days away from the rough streets of Ordshaw. A big poker score should’ve settled that - if a vagrant hadn’t mugged her and been promptly abducted by spooks. She’s got connections with the Ordshaw underworld who know how to track people down. But all Pax finds is otherworldly technology and a book of fiercely imagined monsters.

When I started this I wasn't sure what I would think of it but I was pretty surprised as once I got into it it was very enjoyable.
Pax is pretty broke and then her money is stolen she must get it back. When she goes after the person who stole it she gets more than she bargains for when she finds out there is a whole lot more out there than she thought. Like fairies with attitude and scare creatures!
I really enjoyed the characters in this story! Pax was a pretty cool character but I really liked the fairy Letty who was a bit foul-mouthed and temperamental. :)
Interesting take on the fae mythos.

Revisado: 01-04-20
I really enjoyed this one and it was so much fun to hang out with Shelby and everyone! I really liked this one because Shelby has a stalker, Dimples and Billy get married and some other things that happen that I can't mention. :) It did have some sad moments.
I really liked the stalking aspects because someone is trying to test her prementions and trying to get her to find out what he is doing before it happens. He doesn't get that she can only read minds...lol. It gets a bit scary there towards the end.
I still love all the characters, Shelby, her husband Chris, Uncle Joey, and Ramos. The only real problem I had with this story that keeps it from a 5 star is the kiss towards the end with Ramos. It was unnecessary as she is a married woman. I don't care if they have a connection, lives saved, etc. Shelby should not go there. It would be different if she wasn't married.
Overall, great story and still one of my favorite series!

Historia
Meggie Meyer, an anxiety-ridden debut author, can’t bear to face her upcoming book tour, but she can’t give up on her writing career just as it’s about to really begin. She comes up with a plan that’s so crazy, it just might work: She hires an actress to impersonate her for the two-week stint. Sloan Buchanan, the spunky aspiring actress, jumps at the opportunity to use her intensive acting method to sink into this unusual role, and the line between her and her character quickly begins to blur. And Rachel Drake, the no-nonsense detective, is left to put the pieces together.

A Decent Thriller
Revisado: 10-10-19
I was given this book for review in exchange for an honest opinion.
I wasn't sure what I was going to think of this one as it's a new to me author and sometimes I am hit or miss with thrillers. I ended up really enjoying this one though so I am glad I got a chance to listen too it.
It's told in the POV of three different women and we know that Sloane is missing but we are not sure when it happened. We get the Rachael the detective's pov which is why we know something has happened. Then we have the povs of Meggie a new author who has bad anxiety and so she hires an actress Sloane to portray her at book tours and any public speaking engagements. Sloane thinks it will be a pretty easy gig and she likes Meggie and really gets into her role.
Through these two POV's we start to find out what happens piece by piece and from that I pretty much had it figured out though there were a few surprises.
I really liked all three POV's and they are portrayed by three different narrators but I must admit that for performance I would give it about a 3.5 because I couldn't tell the difference between narrators. I think they picked females with to similiar of voices and I didn't' realize there was three narrators till later on when I looked up the narrator! That being said I didn't mind the narration and thought it was a decent performance.
If you enjoy thrillers I think you should check this one out and I am curious to see what else comes from this author.

Revisado: 07-11-19
Colleen Helme writes fun, adventurous and laugh out loud cozy mysteries!
Shelby has the ability to read minds that gets her into trouble time and time again. It's one of the reasons she is now working for a mobster, the police and sometimes the feds.
I also love the way this series has evolved and how the dynamics of the story ARC has gone especially with the mobster Uncle Joey, how over time more and more is revealed to her family and how it all meshes with her family. It sounds like it should be a bad thing but it's really not. I have even started to like Uncle Joey and of course his right hand man Ramos!
It's always a blast to listen to one of these as the Narrator is sooo good! I do recommend you start from the beginning with book one or it could be confusing at times.
