Historia
Originally published more than fifty years ago, this landmark book explores the ways in which military capabilities—real or imagined—are used, skillfully or clumsily, as bargaining power. Anne-Marie Slaughter's new introduction to the work shows how Schelling's framework—conceived of in a time of superpowers and mutually assured destruction—still applies to our multipolar world, where wars are fought as much online as on the ground.

Adamson’s reading of Thomas Schelling’s landmark work made for the most engaging and digestible listening experiences I’ve had in years.

Historia
In 1991, the United States was the only global superpower. It seemed that the 21st century, like the 20th, would belong to America. Then came the stock market bubble, the costly foreign unilateralism of the younger Bush presidency, and the financial catastrophe of 2008. Meanwhile, China was rising and the Middle East was awakening politically. Today it is clear that America is vulnerable - to domestic and international decline and unregulated greed.

Insightful and Precient
Revisado: 07-02-24
More than 10 years on, Brzezinksy was clearly right about the dangers of a declining America. His warnings in this book have all come to fruition, and his insight on the process by which they happen should be studied.
