Historia
The Manipulator. I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me. I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh. But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave. He's always there, watching and waiting. And I can never look away. Not when I want him to come closer. The Shadow. I didn't mean to fall in love. But now that I have, I can't stay away. I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine. And once she is, I'll never let her go.

It's porn.
Revisado: 06-27-23
It's a porn book. The language used is not sexy, just uncomfortable. The situations are very rapey.
tl;dr- good guy vigilante turns stalker for one girl he doesn't seem to respect as much as the folks he saves. Ignores her "no" until she finds herself with Stockholm Syndrome and "falls in love".
it's gross. Not romantic. Just gross.

It's a religious book pretending not to be.
Revisado: 03-17-22
There is a chapter title called "God is my Antidepressant." A good chunk was interesting, but it's not helpful for atheists.

Life is freaking hard. We are all doing hard things every single day – things like loving and losing; caring for children and parents; forging and ending friendships; battling addiction, illness, and loneliness; struggling in our jobs, our marriages, and our divorces; setting boundaries; and fighting for equality, purpose, freedom, joy, and peace. On We Can Do Hard Things, Glennon Doyle, author of UNTAMED; her wife Abby Wambach; and her sister Amanda Doyle do the only thing they’ve found that has ever made life easier: Drop the fake and talk honestly about the hard things including sex, ...

This book was a huge waste of time
Revisado: 02-15-22
My husband and I listened to this book together prior to purchasing our first rental property. The narration is slow and sounds automated. We had to listen at 1.25x speed just to be able to focus. The author provides his credentials and gives advice for starting your own real estate portfolio. At the end, he says, This is the most important thing and explains how he found 20 people to join his team and each pitch in $50k. This guy did not start small, and selling this book to people who are trying to is a scam.
I'm very glad Audible has an easy return policy.

Historia
"My father had more than 50 children." So begins the haunting memoir of Anna LeBaron, daughter of the notorious polygamist and murderer Ervil LeBaron. With her father wanted by the FBI for killing anyone who tried to leave his cult - a radical branch of Mormonism - Anna and her siblings were constantly on the run with the other sister-wives. Often starving and always desperate, the children lived in terror. Even though there were dozens of them together, Anna always felt alone.

If you have been traumatized by religion, skip.
Revisado: 01-03-21
The story of the cult is extremely interesting and relatively well told. The author reads it as well as a non- professional can be expected to.
The last hour or so of this book is quite a bit of testimony. She talks about how God is her true father and how he opened her eyes to show her that she doesn't need to be perfect because Christ died for her sins. As someone raised in the Church (and left), this caught me off guard and felt very targeted. "I'm going to get you to read this book all the way through, then tell you how Jesus can save you." There were small bits trickled in here and there, but it wasn't as blatant before.
If that's something you're comfortable with, then awesome. You'll probably enjoy this book. If that might trigger you, skip the last two hours, or skip the book.

The year is 1970. Historia
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, listeners can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire.

Honestly, this is everything I could have wanted out of another Twilight book. Looking at it from Edward's perspective resolves a lot of the problems I had initially with Bella. I'm actually starting this book right back at the beginning immediately after finishing.

Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

Book and Narrator are awesome. Music is terrible.
Revisado: 07-09-20
I actually came here to say what pretty much every other review says. The story is awesome. The narrator is perfect for this story and very good. Whatever is going on with this music is near traumatizing. One second you're enjoying this awesome book and the next you're pulled away thinking, "What is that?!" It's jarring every time and very often covers the sound of the narrator. It would be much better and might accomplish whatever the intended purpose was if it were a 'background' noise, but it isn't. It would be best if the entire idea of adding music were scrapped. I kept looking for a setting so I could turn it off. There isn't one.
