Historia
Elaine's was a world-famous New York restaurant that became home to writers and celebrities. Owner Elaine Kaufman was known to be "New York feisty", controversial, often rude, always blunt, with the flare of Gertrude Stein and Dorothy Parker. Elaine was highly respected and frequently feared, and Elaine's the restaurant received the public's love and praise time and time again. Woody Allen held a regular table there, and Elaine's was even featured in Allen's Manhattan and Billy Joel's song "Big Shot".

Historia
In the early 18th century, the Pirate Republic was home to some of the great pirate captains, including Blackbeard, "Black Sam" Bellamy, and Charles Vane. Along with their fellow pirates - former sailors, indentured servants, and runaway slaves - this "Flying Gang" established a crude but distinctive democracy in the Bahamas, carving out their own zone of freedom in which servants were free, Blacks could be equal citizens, and leaders were chosen or deposed by a vote.

Real Life Stranger than Fiction
Revisado: 03-28-22
Great explanation not only of pirate lives but the horrible conditions of the naval and marine merchants and the geopolitical situations that led to the golden age of piracy. Doesn't sugarcoat any of it so may be difficult to listen to some of the abuse and torture.

Historia
What’s in a name? A lot. The name Tinaca, for example, has been passed down in the Jones family for generations of women. In fact, the Joneses name a Tinaca every other generation, to let the name breathe a little. To let each Tinaca shine. And shine is exactly what Tinaca Jones intends to do.

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
Revisado: 01-28-20
This book was way funnier than I expected it to be. Like, laugh out loud at wok with my headphones on funny. Tinaca Jones is an amazing character. Smart, funny and outspoken. Everyone should have a best friend like her. Retta gives her warmth and feeling. Do they give Oscars for audio book performances?
