Good, but not as fascinating as Book One.
Revisado: 09-17-24
The saga continues but I wasn’t as impressed with this segment as I was with the first book, Cast Under an Alien Sun. I felt there was too much war scenes and carnage, just too much fighting and not enough focus on the relationship and love story of Yozef and Meera, I would have liked to be more immersed in their story, although I do understand the reason the author chose to delve more into the warring tribes but it was too millitarily-focused for me. So I can wait, but will eventually listen to the third book later down the road.

Loved it—can’t wait to hear the 2nd installment!
Revisado: 09-13-24
Though it started off a bit slow and with so many different characters and strange names that I thought I’d never understand who’s who, once you get past the beginning and get into the groove, you find you’re fine and towards the middle you’re coasting and are fully understanding and enjoying it! Loved the pace, the plotting and this story as a whole and totally recommend it. It’s a bit unique and very authentic and is definitely not your run-of-the mill SF story. Can’t explain it or quite put my finger on it, but it’s different in a good way. So to all you Sci-fi fans and even if you’re just a regular listener, go ahead and get, it’s worth the listen!

I think I listened to the entire thing in one day, which is very unusual for me, but it was so moving and touching and engrossing! Highly recommend this one…it was a joy and delight listening to this tale about three very different sisters. Beautifully told and performed!

It was an interesting story about a group of doctors—four from the States and four from Paris, France and how their lives entwined together and changed as a result. I enjoyed it, and it’s a good listen if you want something light and engaging and nothing too deep.

I enjoyed this listen with all its interesting details and tidbits of information, but the story itself while thought-provoking is a bit sad. So many unfortunate things befalls Angelique, the main character, even up to the end. Wish I could say she had a delightful life, but life for her was very challenging and hard.

Delicious to listen to!
Revisado: 08-17-24
I truly enjoyed listening to this audiobook, I savored it, like a delectable piece of candy. It took me a while to get through but the more I heard, the more I loved! I hated when it ended, especially since I felt there were hours more of story left that wasn’t written. I wished that somehow there was a part two to this, but I know that Danielle Steel only writes stand-alones. Ms. Steel, if you’re reading this, could you please write a sequel to this one? I’d love to hear more…

The story was a little slow at the beginning and felt extremely whiny towards the middle, but it picked up more towards the end. It’s not one of her best, but it’ll do if you’re looking for your Danielle Steel fix. Loved the ending, though, very satisfying.

Sullies the Soul
Revisado: 05-05-24
Listened to this book a month or two ago and left a review that I can’t even find, so I’m writing another one. This book should come with a warning: “mars the cleanness and luster/soils and stains the soul.” It’s hard to erase after you’ve been exposed to this sordid stuff. I feel sullied, soiled and dismayed. As for the writing itself, too much sacrilegious and profane language, and could use a bit more sophistication. Oddly enough, the plot isn’t revealed until the very end of the novel, and the storyline itself is troubling, where a 16-year old girl is indulging in a fantasy, writing erotic emails and yearning to be with a grown man. And that grown man’s reaction to those messages! Lots of distasteful and despicable actions taking place here, and the last wedding night scene is RIDICULOUS, too vile, jarring, and indecent to recount…thus the warning that should accompany this book. Reminds me of the “Red Wedding” from the Game of Thrones but without the massacre, just as shocking though!

Always so wonderful to listen to LaVyrle Spencer novels…such a blessing and so wholesome, even when dealing with difficult subjects. Enjoyed this stirring story about Lee and Christopher and their beautifully emotional love story. Honestly, can’t say enough good things about it, it was so perfect. And of course, Emily Sutton-Smith as the narrator is always spectacular and on-point with the narrative performance. Totally recommend!
