Wish there was more to the ending

The narrator was fantastic, I love her voice and she put in a lot of effort into the characters. Could maybe improve on keeping consistent different voices for the characters yet what I noticed was very minor and between the protagonist and Rebecca I got a little confused in the dialogue on who was speaking.

The story had me hooked for the most part yet the ending felt like it was wrapped up a bit too fast and a little cliché. I was just wanting a bit more to it I guess but it was more of a realistic end I suppose. Also there were several accounts of 4th wall breaking? "not like in the movies" "this was real life, not a movie." Ect made my eyes roll and took me out of the experience.

I'd recommend it.

Pretty much just a brochure, very slightly touching in details.

The author describes an ollie fully yet never names it. An ollie is one of the most important things to learn and I thought that should be stated.

Going into this I thought they would have a more in depth description of things yet it wasn't the case. It is however it is easily digestible for someone who may have never seen a single trick or know a hair of information. It is not overwhelming yet In my personal taste I feel like the information could have been arranged a bit better. Felt more like a school presentation (not saying that is bad) rather than a guide book. I do hope to see more books about skateboarding on audible in general.

The narrator is good, there could be improvements and I reserve my 5 stars for those who go above and beyond. I felt like she had more of a calming than motivating voice. No lack of effort, she did good and it's nice to listen to.

Beginning the audio book, the author states that if you do not want a boring audio book then this is the one for you. The introduction should have been the sample because I noticed right then that it wasn't for me but I was going to listen and learn what I could.

The first part that feels like the book had finally started, chapter 8, goes on a bit too long about love being cited in works of art and stories and religion and history and ... well way too many examples. It still felt like I was at a long winded introduction still.

While listening I first noticed that the reader pronounced some words inaccurately such as reading "associate" as in "I associate with that person" (A-soū-she-ate) yet it was pronounced as "associate" as in "I am a sales associate" (Ah-so-she-at). She also inflected some words sharply at confusing times "love had been found in art, music, -tracks!- and other locations." I believe she has potential yet needs to practice and warm up a bit. Maybe read the paragraph to herself then record it instead of recording as she goes.

She also sounds a but out of breath. I tried to speed it up to 1.4 to get through some information yet it started to make me anxious. With time I believe this reader can improve and I apologize if my critique is harsh. Once getting further in it, it did get a bit better.

As for the information and the way the book is written. I'm completely bored and trying not to sigh and roll my eyes. Too much filler information of stuff I think most people know already. It may have had different effect if someone reads it in a completely different way but if I had picked the book up and skimmed through it, I would still feel as if someone was just jotting down their thoughts rather than intending on providing information.

This book may be good for you if:
You don't mind how short it is and you enjoy the voice

You have trouble grasping the concept of the basics of love (I would say a young reader yet the chapter I am on has the word "sex about 132 times")

You want to prove to someone your validity of pansexuality (I support that pansexual relationships are valid and that communication and set boundaries are key so that made me happy to hear it included)

You are not bothered by the small details like I am

I, awaiting pending an Aspergers diagnosis, have trouble letting go of the small details and have sensitivities to certain irritations such as the way things are said and if the information pertains to the specific point. I had to re-read the title to remember why I was listening and that isn't a joke or intended as an insult, just a fact of what I have heard for -half- of the book does not pertain to the title. Way too much lead up. I state this because those educated and in tune with how an Aspergers brain functions will understand.

That all said, I do hope the performer and the writer can use this review to improve because I stand behind the intention of this book. I do have faith that I will learn something yet I'm very fact-driven as far as -this is the specific thing I want to know, please tell me about that specific thing as described in the sample.-

Thank you if you have read all that.
