Historia
Eerie, dreamlike, set in a world that is weirdly related to our own, The Gunslinger introduces Roland Deschain of Gilead, of In-World that was, as he pursues his enigmatic antagonist to the mountains that separate the desert from the Western Sea in the first volume of The Dark Tower series. Roland, the last gunslinger, is a solitary figure, perhaps accursed, who with a strange single-mindedness traverses an exhausted, almost timeless landscape of good and evil.

Don't judge the rest in the series by this one.
Revisado: 10-12-10
This is a mediocre start, I liked it, but not enough to make me want to read the other books. If my parents hadn't bought me the first three books--years ago, I never would have gotten into them. The story doesn't get good until the second book. This is one of the very first books he has written, and he has grown alot since then. This is the best series I know, and I read alot. Think of this one as an introduction to the real story that begins in the second book.

Hated the story, felt like it was a cheap advertisement for kindle. Love King, but this is not worthy of my time. He must have gotten paid for the number of times he said "kindle".

When Anita Blake meets with prospective client Tony Bennington, who is desperate to have her reanimate his recently deceased wife, she is full of sympathy for his loss. Anita knows something about love, and she knows everything there is to know about loss. But what she also knows, though Tony Bennington seems unwilling to be convinced, is that the thing she can do as a necromancer isn't the miracle he thinks he needs.

Not a new plot
Revisado: 06-22-10
I really loved the first several novels in this series. This book and Micah seem like novellas, and shouldn't have been portrayed as new books in the series. They belong in a collection of stories. With Micah I even contacted audible to make sure the whole story was included, i couldn't believe the story was really so short with such little plot. The whole "lets abduct Anita and make here raise a loved one" has been done already. I actually felt as if I already heard this story before becuase it resembles an older story already done. I did like the story, felt it was just "filler" story for Hamilton to sell something though.

Starting to dislike this series .
Revisado: 06-22-10
I really love the first several books in the series. I female detective like story with plot and paranormal activity, very interesting to read. Very likeable main characters and good crime stories. Then they turned into romance novels where Anita just whines about the men in her life. I love good sex scenes, its okay for the book to be full of sex also; but the whining about relationships gets real old real fast when that becomes the focus of the story intead of the crime plots that started the series. It seems to me that instead of coming up with actual plot that new and more perverse sex scenes are added to shock the reader--I do love the sex scenes but I read books for plot and entertainment. I love the Skin Trade book, was hoping the books would get back to that style. Not the trashy romance novel it has become. Anita was one of the first female detective characters that I have read, along with the science fiction/horror/mystery genre it created. It was a great series for awhile, I am sick and tired of Anita whining about the men in her life instead of hearing about her work as a detective/necromancer. I am actually rooting for Richard's death, along with every other man in Anita's life.

Hated the narrator
Revisado: 06-22-10
I thought the narrator was awful, the story wasn't to great either. I might have enjoyed the story enough to say it was worth a credit if the narrator was different; it really shocked me to see people say he is one of the best ones. His voice seemed monotone and bland. The sound he makes to imitate the cane drove me crazy, it did not increase suspense but just made it irritating. The cheesy soundtrack was bad also, if only because they use the same one constantly. I couldn't finish the story because the narrator was so bad--gave a good try and got over half the story. Honestly, if I had just read the book I might have actually enjoyed the story but now I don't want anything to do with it.

One of the few actually good zombie novels.
Revisado: 06-22-10
I have tried quite a few zombie novels and most of them are awful. I don't need alot of plot, but some story is necessary. The characters were very likeable and I didn't cheer for their demise to just see them go away. Most of the other novels have people doing extremely stupid things that would never make any sense, just to make a plot where otherwise there would be none. I would love to see this as a series of books, I loved the way it was done as a journal (which I had serious doubts about being fun to listen to). Others have complained about the abrupt ending, I liked the ending; lives it open for other books. Honestly, it is a journal and I was expecting an ending where he says he plans on going out to explore something and then the journal entries just stop. Its not like he can report his own death.

Geat Story
Revisado: 06-22-10
I really loved this book, it was very long but kept me entertained. Was surprised how long I had to listen before getting any idea of what the story was or where it was going. There were a few things I thought were completely stupid things for people to do in it, won't give the plot away but if I had several decades to make a back up plan for survival I would actually take it and not just resign to just die because we lose electricity. I wouldn't just live in a regular house that is easy to break into, i think given almost a century people could build a defensible domicile to protect them. It was a great plot overall, and the characters were very likeable and made me actually care what happened to them.

Waste of money
Revisado: 06-22-10
Didn't care for the reader and the way he did the voices. Also, it was like he was quickly reading a script, absolutely no pauses. Was hard to determine when a new scene starts or ends, takes a few sentences to determine a new scene has begun. Also, I know this is a short story but way to much was trying to be covered to do any of it justice. It should have covered a smaller plot; it was like an extremely abridged novel where everything was edited out except the barebone outline of the story. The storytelling itself was awful, the reading was even worse. I think they were going for fast paced and suspenseful, it was just annoying to hear and difficult to visualize the scenes with the constant stream of narration that gave no clue that the entire scene has just changed to a completely different environment.
