maybe I'm getting too old for this.
Revisado: 01-30-25
Okay, so I'm probably going to be trolled but a review is a review so to quote Carl, "You will not break me."
First off let me start by saying I love the writing style and I really enjoy the back and forth banter between Donut and Carl. the way this book was written and the way was narrated make this series really REALLY enjoyable to listen to! Having said that, I only have one real gripe about the series and it may just be my personal preference. I feel like the author has done a really good job painting a picture of how intricate The Dungeon Crawl is and how much is involved on a grander scale. I think for me there's too much. I'm listening and enjoying it but a lot of times I often feel like I'm not sure exactly what's going on or how they got there even though I understand the progression through the floors of the dungeon. And then when I start to understand the add a new element in that makes me feel like wait "What?!? Well whatever I'm still enjoying it." the first book was my absolute favorite only because it was simple. the invasion happened, the dungeon appeared, and there was a walk-through with a little bit of complexity. after that the books just got so complex that I oftentimes don't understand the intricate interworkings of the story and I just have to rely on that I Know Carl and Donut are just making their way through the dungeon and leveling up.
I think the story would be just as great and just as enjoyable to listen to without as much complexity. that's my only gripe.

Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Historia
It was supposed to be an easy job: find the Dark Star Revolution Starships, destroy them, and go home. But a booby-trapped vessel decimates the Meridian Alliance fleet, leaving Serengeti - a Valkyrie class warship with a sentient AI brain - on her own, wrecked and abandoned in an empty expanse of space. On the edge of total failure, Serengeti thinks only of her crew. She herds the survivors into a lifeboat, intending to sling them into space. But the escape pod sticks in her belly, locking the cryogenically frozen crew inside.

Didn't end like I'd hoped...
Revisado: 05-08-18
I enjoyed the story for the most part, however the ending left me wanting. I don't want to give anything away, all I'm saying is that the mutual respect between Serengeti and Hendrickson should have played a part in the epilogue. Listen to it and I'm sure you'll understand what I am saying.

One of these boys is called Jamie, and he was the first boy that Peter ever brought to the island. Jamie's lived there for longer than he can remember, and it's not all fun and games.

Love that you self published The Undead...
Revisado: 08-08-17
Dear Mr. Haywood,
I am in awe of your work. The Undead series is by far my favorite on Audible. I'm currently on day 16. As an aspiring writer I love that you self published. It gives hope to the rest of us that we can share our work with the world. In regards to the series, the characters are each so dynamic that it is just a joy to listen to. The mixture of severity and humor in the story makes the world in which Howie and his group struggle to survive in feel so real. please please please keep the series going.
All the best,
Frederick Murray

Historia
The Jordan Foundation sponsored the Proxima Centauri Expedition in 2119, in attempt to reach the nearer stars of the galaxy. But that was far in the mythic past. The original purpose of the Ship's epic voyage has long been forgotten, and for generations the giant spaceship, lost between the stars, is the only world that the people aboard have known. A strange civilization has evolved, with its own superstitions, savage religion, rigid class structure and mutant outcasts.

Story not really about the Syren
Revisado: 10-20-16
I feel like the story was not really about the syren, and that it was actually kind of a moot point. Other than that it was pretty good though a little jumpy, going from character storyline to character storyline in the choppy sort of way.

Storyline vs Sexuality
Revisado: 02-12-16
I love the story, but I feel like the focus on sexuality takes away from the story. It makes it sound like smut when It doesn't have to. The storyline is strong enough to carry itself.
