I first listened to this book before other books in the series because it was a plus title and the others were not. There was a lot I didn’t fully understand because I hadn’t read or listened to the earlier books in the series. I liked this enough to purchase the other Green Creek books, and I returned to Heartsong after listening to Wolfsong and Ravensong. With that context, I better understood the characters and their motivations, and my initial dissatisfaction with some aspects of the story and plot were alleviated. The narration was great. I must say that Kirt Graves excels at the art of the creepy villainous voices… gave me the shivers.

The characters are two-dimensional and tacky. The author wants to be humorous but fails. Not even TH could rescue this story.

Two questions—wtf is this garbage, and why all the positive reviews? The only positive thing about this audiobook is TH’s narration, but he could make almost anything sound appealing. The writing is pretty substandard. There are so many things wrong and disturbing with the storyline, plot and characters that I don’t even know where to start.

I found Liar City to be funny, fast-paced, and enthralling. Leslie is one of my favorite voice actors, and I loved this performance. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series! I’m not sure where some of the less-than-5-star reviews are coming from. Maybe they’re due to expectations based on Therin’s other books? Possibly there was an expectation of more romance, but this seems like a slow-burn romance series, and those expectations will likely be met in later installments. Also, given Evan’s personality and background, it would be out of character for anything of that nature to develop so quickly.

I can forgive much in a story, but not this. The main characters, especially the FMC, were dim-witted, incompetent and irrational.

The story was okay, but as some other reviews have mentioned, Rivers’ narration really ruined the listening experience. In particular, she is awful at doing the male voices. The only reason I stuck it out to the end of the novel was Jason Clarke, whose narration was excellent.

I enjoyed this audiobook, though not as much as the first in the series, which I loved. Teddy Hamilton was wonderful, as per usual, but Tanya Eby always sounds stilted in her narrations, which just grates on my nerves. I found myself wishing that Teddy had narrated the entire story.

At first I thought this book was going to be a bit campy. And maybe it was a bit but I haven’t laughed this much in forever. And the narrators were perfect for the story.

This is one of those stories where most of the characters make stupid choices for incomprehensible reasons. Ultimately, this book was frustrating and a waste of my time. I can’t decide whether the narrator made the female protagonist sound insipid or if that’s just how the character was written… possibly both, since Landor tends to make female characters sound vapid in her narrations of other books.

Interesting story, but it’s not Kennedy’s best novel by a long shot. Also, I am not a fan of cliffhangers. Bloom’s narration was overly melodramatic and grating. Clarke was great and Hobbs was okay with their performances.
