Historia
In this smart and subversively funny memoir, Kristen Howerton navigates the emotional and sometimes messy waters of motherhood and challenges the idea that there’s a “right” way to raise kids. Recounting her successes, trials, mishaps, and hard-won wisdom, this mother of four advocates for letting go of the expectations, the guilt, and the endless race to be the perfect parent to the perfect child in the perfect family.

BEAUTIFUL

Thank you for being so vulnerable and REAL in this book. I heard you on NPR as I was driving, I memorized the title so when I made it home I could add it to my Audible account. I'm reading it again, I really love your wtiying style and how open you were with your feelings, your struggles, and the unique connection you have with each individual child.

Historia
What really makes a leader? Spencer Conley has walked that walk, as an athlete, coach, and leadership entrepreneur and now he's sharing his secrets. His new book, Lead with L.O.V.E., is a life-changing volume from a true motivator that will embrace and empower listeners with a fresh willingness to learn ways to lead. Are you ready to examine yourself? Can you look at who you have become and stop allowing complacency to sneak up on you? "Identify yourself", Conley says. "Be open and honest with yourself, as none of us live 100 percent of anything and that is okay!"

The Concept
Revisado: 03-25-24
I thought this book was well written. The concepts behind LOVE, the different angles and approaches the author took on LOVE, and marrying LOVE to leadership was overall a new version of thinking for me. I definitely have to rethink my leadership qualifications and adjust my thought process when it comes to being and taking on leadership roles.

Historia
Using a comparison group of adults who grew up in the same communities but whose parents never divorced, Wallerstein shows how adult children of divorce essentially view life differently from their peers in intact homes, and also sheds light on the question that so many parents confront: whether to stay unhappily married or to divorce. This book is a landmark cultural event that will change the way all of us view divorce.

It was hard to hear sometimes. this is my second time listening to this book. I loved it then. It makes me mindful about the issues that surround children of divorce.

Historia
Twenty-six-year-old editorial assistant Nella Rogers is tired of being the only Black employee at Wagner Books. Fed up with the isolation and microaggressions, she’s thrilled when Harlem-born and bred Hazel starts working in the cubicle beside hers. They’ve only just started comparing natural hair care regimens, though, when a string of uncomfortable events elevates Hazel to Office Darling, and Nella is left in the dust.

Written with me, in mind
Revisado: 08-05-21
I really appreciate the inner thoughts of Nella. They remind me of my own personal thoughts when interacting with other women in my culture. I like the alternate world of protection from the OBG's. This is a wonderfully addressed, unspoken true pink elephant in the room. It gripped several emotions at once and left me shaking my head or holding my breath till the next chapter started. Well written, well examined.
