The story kept me interested in all of the various characters--and the narrator was quite good.

I love Liane Moriarty and some of her narrators are fabulous, but Heather Wilds was a miss for me. While listening to the story, I kept repeating lines in my head the way I thought they should be read, rather than they way she read them. For example, sometimes she would emphasize the wrong word, or read "she said" as though it was in the next sentence, rather than the ending of a sentence. It was weird.

The story, however, was great. A dysfunctional family living with the consequences of an event from decades earlier. The book wraps up nicely and was enjoyable, even with the narration. I recommend it.

I live in Portland, Oregon, where Wildwood takes place, so it was extra fun to imagine that our wonderful Forest Park as an "Impassible Wilderness" where animals and plants can communicate. I loved this story and the characters. The narration was my only problems (and Colin Meloy narrates the second and third books--a huge improvement). The narrator had some weird fake Scots accent for the bandits which was quite off putting. Otherwise--a fabulous listen. I read all three and loved them!

I love the Wildwood series. The style reminds me of Neil Gaiman's young adult literature, which I adore. I hope to return to Wildwood in the future--and as a Portlander, I love knowing I can hike through the park it is based off of!

This one is slightly different from the rest of the series in that it is written mostly in the third person. We are taken back in time to learn about an old case from Hawthorne. It is a terrific old style who done it and it loved both the book and the reading.

I loved this book. It is about loyalty and frailty. The loyalty to family, to friends, to your passions and sometimes people betray or disappoint those them. The lead character, Victor, is a teenager who is far from perfect, but who manages to find beauty in his circumstances. The performance was exceptional and I really enjoyed learning about Carville (a real place!) and Hansen's disease. My big misgiving was the ending, which felt cut off--what happened to Victor in NYC? To his dad, his brother, and even more curiously, Ruth. Why would Ruth just disappear? The saving grace was that after the book there is an interview with the author's father, who lived at Carville in his teens. We get a sense of how his life, at least, turned out. Still, I would like a more satisfying ending to give this five stars.

The book is a murder mystery with a murder mystery embedded inside and it works! And inside that mystery is yet another story! There are two terrific narrators and because they are different stories, the transition is not jarring) This was really an exceptional audible book. I highly recommend!

I enjoyed every minute of this listen. The book is gut wrenching but hopeful, and sweet. The reader was easy to listen to. Well done!

I'm loving this series of Thursday Murder Club mysteries. This time around, we know the characters a bit more and delve further into Elizabeth's past as an MI5 agent. The club follow the clues to solve this one...and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. This series is the feel-good, humorous kind of mystery that is a great break from darker noir that I also enjoy. Keep them coming!

John Hopkins does a fantastic job narrating this series. The story takes place on a commune in a large home, where silly mystics mix with those who are truly seeking a peaceful existence. The only quibble here is the books are showing their age a bit--with some sexist workplace language and scenarios that would never be accepted in a book written today. But I put this and the others in the series squarely in the cozy and fun murder mystery genre. Good fun.
